In fact, only yesterday I took my trusty old Nokia dBox2 testbox out of the wardrobe and fitted it back into the lounge stack. No scart or ethernet, just cable feed and power.

Why? Coz we missed not having the Standby Clock / Calendar!! None of the other modules (DM500S, VM 2110C, and Toshiba DVD/VCR/HDD combo) have a clock, ffs!

After all the image development this box has seen since Commando 10, it's nice to see it in an honourable retirement doing a useful job, rather than being hidden away and forgotten about...

Cheers- AL

ps: The new Toshiba combo unit is worth a Rant of the Week. It has this pathetic EU Directive Eco Standby Mode, which is almost a power-Off state. No clock in Standby, (in fact no RTC on the front display at all), and no scart pass through in Standby.

The scart anomaly means we can't watch the DM500S with the Toshiba in standby mode. Therefore the Toshiba has to be left ON 24/7. Some power saving! Another prime example of warped EU legislation, ffs!!
