Sounds like you're having a bit of a 'mare with this m8!
I don't have one of these, but I've had a quick look at the manual.
I assume that you you are aware of the following & that any USB devices you have attached at FAT formatted?

Quote:
When you use USB devices such as USB hard-disk drive (HDD) and USB
memory stick, or internal hard-disk drive (HDD) with this receiver, you
should make sure that the HDD be formatted in FAT file system, not
NTFS. In case you use NTFS formatted HDD,
(a) PVR feature is not supported.
(b) The receiver may not boot-up properly.
(c) Even with FAT formatted USB HDD, please connect it to your
receiver only after the receiver completed booting.
(d) If you power on/off the receiver with the NTFS formatted USB
device connected to the receiver, STB may get damaged or
may not start properly.
&
Quote:
NOTE
Your USB memory must be formatted in the FAT file system.
Otherwise, the digital receiver cannot recognize your USB memory. In
addition, the digital receiver can only recognize files and directories
which are named with only alphabetic, numeric and underscore
letters. If there is a file or folder named with other letters, the digital
receiver cannot recognize not only it but also its subsequent files and
folders.
It doesn't look like there's a serial port either, so no boot logs etc. possible via hyperterminal.

This isn't particularly "helpful" but it might get the ball rolling............

Good luck!

Sounds like you're doing all you can m8.
These are pretty new pieces of kit & there won't be many people out there with any experience at the moment.
I guess you'll just have to be patient until someone who knows about these things spots this thread.
Maybe you could try on the "friends of ukcvs" forums in the mean time?

Cheers

have you updated the firmware previously with that USB drive? Some devices can be fussy what sort of USB pen drives you can use in them - even if it's formatted as FAT it may still nto recognise it maybe. just a thought.

few things to try

- Do you try with another USB stick brand?

- Is your stick formatted in FAT32 with no other files on it?

- Do you try on the back USB just in case?

-Does it have a HDD installed, if so try removing it

- Don't you misconnect the HDD while installing it and blow the USB and the DOM power supply

open the box and check all the cable connection. Simply push on the cable connector just in case there was a problem during transport and give it a try again to update it

Put USB in Azbox HD Turn Of Power and then turn on.
You get UPGRADE scren then select option 1. USB and booting start.

When finish proces 1-4 you get seam scren again and then you select option 5. Boot without udate

have you tried to google info on "azloader"? found this...

i dont own an azbox and have not used this myself so use at own risk!

azloader:
Tool to allow user to update software to Azbox through a RS232 pc port
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Download Azloader tool.

Download the latest available software.

Download both to one folder.

Turn the receiver to power off.

Open Azloader tool, set up the program with the correct COM port that you’ll use, then click in [ … ] and browse among the folders of your computer till you get the folder where the downloaded software is (bin format), which downloaded in step 2. Select this software and then click Open.

The next step is clicking Start.

Link the receiver to power on.

Wait that the operation finishes and the following message appears on computer: "Download OK!"

The receiver will restart automatically.

---------------------------------------------------------
ATENTION: It’s strongly recomended do a reset to factory setting, when you switch software version. In order to do this procedure please go to Menu -> System Setup -> Data Reset -> Factory Setting
Attached Files - Who Downloaded?
File Type: zip azloader.zip (76.1 KB, 48 views)
