Default Neutrino Channel Icons

Just spent some time sorting out the TV channel icons on my dbox, mostly removing some older ones which no longer exist and renaming for the name changes. I changed the actual graphics to a couple, and created a few. ^_^

I'm unsure if channel names differ from region to region, but these channels work at least where I am. (pure ntl area on the east coast)

There are 209 .raw files totalling to 418KB inside the zip file. ^_^ And they go in /var/tuxbox/icons if you didn't know.

Also I haven't bothered with radio icons. ^_^

EDIT: The source for any of the updated/added icons were mostly from here: http://www.lyngsat-logo.com/tvcountry/uk.html (except the "Comedy Central Extra" icon which I took from tiscali's tv guide)

EDIT2: Uploaded a fixed script that will symlink the duplicate BBC and ITV channels, (saving about 20 KB) instructions are inside the archive. ^_^
Attached Files - Who Downloaded? - Who Downloaded?
File Type: zip Neutrino Channel Icons-aj.zip (96.0 KB, 10 views)
File Type: zip IconLinker-aj-fixed.zip (754 Bytes, 2 views)

Nice one, AJ! Are these 100x60 format, or a mix, m8? Cheers- AL

when I was pondering through existings ones, seemed to be 80 x 48 so was using that, not too many new ones added though, less than 10 I think, so shouldn't be too much trouble to redo them to a larger size. ^_^

That's what I meant about saving the originals in whatever format they were, m8. I don't think it's possible to reverse engineer a 16 color .raw back to a 256 color .png for enigma. Nor to grow it from 80x48 px to 100x60 px.

One of my biggest regrets was changing SatSearching's preferred 100x60 png enigma graphics to 80x48 raw for neutrino... After a while, I realised that 100x60 looked better in the neutrino Infobar, doh! But I've just never gotten around to creating a new 100x60 raw set yet. One day...

Cheers- AL

So any that are 80 x 48 need to be redone from scratch? that's alot of icons to do. ^_^ lol

Most will be on that site so can be done quite easily though. ^_^ don't really have much time this weekend now, got a couple of odd shifts at work to look forward too. -_-

Hi,

you would save some space in your images if you provide one
icon for BBC One, itv1 and similar programs and create links
for local versions of this program. You have six icons alone for
BBC One now.

On the German Tuxbox board I did something similar:
http://tuxbox-forum.dreambox-fan.de/...358465#p358465

Problem here was that icon packs used the channelid based
on data used by satellite companies on their transponders.
To use these icons on cable you would need to rename them
because the cable providers are using other channel ids than
on satellite, or, which was a better solution when it comes to
regional programs, to link them.

The script parses a small, cable provider-specific, database

Quote:
40200012742 2710f001cf09 # BBC World
The first entry is the filename (without extension) of the
icon, the second entry is the filename needed for the
specific cable provider, the rest is user-friendly comment.

You could use a similar mechanism to provide each icon
only once in your icon pack and create links, using my
script, to other icons. If my scripts work with filenames
containing spaces, I do now know. But you get an idea
on how to save space.

Another example would be radio stations, here for example
a regional program of public television, NDR TV, provides
several radio programs:
Code:
43100016e41 2718f0016f1c # NDR 1 Niedersachsen
43100016e41 2717f0016f1b # NDR 1 Radio MV
43100016e41 2718f0016f1a # NDR 1 Welle Nord
43100016e41 2717f0016f15 # NDR 2
43100016e41 2716f0016f19 # NDR 90,3
43100016e41 2718f0016f1d # NDR Info Spezial
43100016e41 2710f0016f16 # NDR Kultur
43100016e41 2716f0016f18 # N-JOY
The original icon for this station is 43100016e41.raw,
my script creates a lot of links to it for their radio stations.

You can actually replace the .raw files with a link (just like AL said on how the large font file is linked to a smaller one over in the c11 diff thread a bit ago).

That post gave me an idea, just tried it and now instead of BBC1 North.raw being a 1KB file, it's a 29byte link. ^_^

Not sure on how to go about creating a script to do this for several files at once though, lol.

Edit: just done the linking too all BBC1 channels, ITV1 channels and the dupe BBC2 channel, now down to 399KB in the icons folder. ^_^

I like rhabarber's idea of Symlinking, that's cool. Unfortunately though, this wouldn't apply to me personally, as I keep all the duplicate channels well away from my services and bouquets.

But hang on a minute... For dboxes permanently hooked up to the net, like my three are (TuxWeather, Webcams etc), wouldn't it be feasible to pull all the channel icons in from a remote web source, instead of them all taking up vital space in the image?

80% of them I never watch anyway, LOL! Cheers- AL

No, but you could mount a NFS share to /var/share/tuxbox/neutrino/icons

Yeah the symlinking thing was what I was doing, and made a script that will create 10 symlinks for the dupe channel icons. ^_^ upped it in the first post of this thread.
