No need to start a new thread for what is really C11.3 Feedback, m8! Hence why I moved your post into here, where it belongs.

In the Icons tarball, these two image files are named BBC ONE.raw and BBC TWO.raw respectively. If both channels are named slightly differently in services.xml in your area, just rename both icon files to exactly match what you see in services.

The names are syntax and case sensitive and the icons won't show if there's the slightest disparity!

Cheers- AL

But if it's a big fook-off dvd player covering all the vent slots- then there's your problem! Restack and put the dvd unit UNDER the dbox! And still remove the modem.

Doing this allows more cool airflow around the Tuner can immediately alongside it- plus is one less thing for the PSU to supply power to = less heat O/P from the PSU!

Thanks Al, and reporting back, I can say that the DBox, has not misbehaved at all for the few hrs I have been back from work. And the 'WAF', seems high as she also reports no sudden freezing or reboots, from her time of use.

So we can say issue Busted for now on this. EPG issues, will report back another time. For now, am happy and content.

Laters and Cheers m8.

Thanks for this image. It has been the best "out of the box" image I have used.

Did manage to crash the box and got "kein system" when I installed yWeb by ftp, re-flashed and used the web update, it worked without any problems.

Some icons need their names changed, but not a problem.

Web installed tuxwetter and streaming support and enabled internet radio but found the following glitches.

Tuxwetter:
BBC weather does not show all the details on the maps. i.e temperature map with no icons to show the temperature, it is only colour coded and no key.
UK weather.com shows images from April 2009 for Allergies (I would not usually use this anyway).
Webcams:
This is a great little plug-in, I really like having a look around the world to see what is going on.

Streaming support:
I thought this was for streaming upnp to the box. Not sure what this enabled? Will there be a Upnp plugin?

Internet radio:
First time I tried to load the shoutcast script I had an error reading the file. Second time it worked, so no problems now.

General TV:
Fast to change channel and great NAR removal. The Narrative Audio was one of the worst issues, thanks to all who worked on this.
A small issue now that English is the selected audio, is that on some channels the first audio stream is "English (AC3)" or "English (AC3)(AC3)" when this happens no audio is played and it is back to the green button to change it back.

7 day EPG:
Used this as standard 7 day and left it in standby over night, the next day had to reboot. Sounds like the same problem as binki. Switched to selective 7 day EPG to see what happens.

yweb:
Some pages are still in German.

Overall a great (if not the best) image have used. Thanks again to everyone that helped create this.
Now that we have the web update feature can it (or will it) be used to update Icons, yWeb, EPG, bugs ect...

Thanks

Excellent feedback thanks, Chris! As to your final question about Online Updates, we've discussed various possibilities at length further back in this thread.

One thing we must remember- not all users have their dBoxes connected to the net, like you and I. So for the time being, we think a 'DIY' approach, as used in this recent update is the best way of handling it, with clear instructions given.

The advantage of a linux-compiled tarball is that everything is in the correct folders and even has the correct chmod attributes- so noobs shouldn't struggle too much.

Cheers- AL

Hi there,

Yes, I can confirm that in that mode, the epg filter is not looked at... that could change though!
Basically, I had problem recording (same as earlier in this thread) and the culprit was too much EPG data. I know that in the recording options, you can switch off sectionsd but that didn't seem to make any difference... so I basically had to do it manually and it seems to work (using recording.start .end .timer files). I had to complete kill sectionsd on timer or start and then restart it when the recording stops. I tried to just pause and free memory but that didn't work either... I had 2 different readings using sectionsdcontrol --statistics... "handed out by malloc was 0" but "with sbrk' by malloc" stayed the same (so I guess wasn't working)!

So basically sectionsd is too big when we try to get too much EPG (I even start to think that 3 days would be too big!)... Al suggested to get rid of long description for channels that are only now and next (still haven't looked at it sorry!) but I think it might still be using too much mem! So maybe we need to use the blacklisting... i.e. if a channel is not your friend, it's your enemy (if we don't want 3/7 days for a channel, we want nothing - perhaps a bit too drastic?)

Re: manual install thingy I was getting on about a few posts back, I liked scruff's idea of creating a plugin for easy uninstall (in some cases) - I'll mock about with shellexec to check that I'm not talking out of my a**e!

Oh yeah, for those interested, just pop those in your /var/tuxbox/config directory... I think they need a chmod +x
