Ahhhh, I'll double check that one .... could be the right time to add something in sectionsd to look for a .IwanteXtendedNow&NextLongDescriptionAsWell as I sometimes press the ? to know more about the program but obviously forget that nothing happens as it was a n&n only channel lol!

and bang goes the RAM again...

Also an auto-save epg data if you set up the folder to save the info as the reboot function doesn't seem to get sectionsd to dump the info even with a folder set-up (does the reboot plugins needs to reboot the box using neutrino rather than the linux reboot command line?)

reboot plugin uses the world's smallest script. Tell us what you want added and we'll do it!

Lastly, re your plugin (that I really like BTW!), I was adding/removing channels using it but because sectionsd restarts after adding/removing, I had no idea which channels I already had 7 days EPG for.. so basically I was adding one it was obvious I didn't have (by looking at the EPG data red, green buttons) but then after the 1st sectionsd restart, I was a bit stuck! I read some people said they were only getting 1 day.. but was working fine after a restart, I bet some of them didn't realise that adding/deleting channels to the filter was causing the EPG data to reset and that the box needed to be put on standby for a epg refresh (that would explain why they said they were only getting 1 day when they chose the 7 days option)... so maybe we could have a * or something next to the channel logo to indicate that it's a channel contained in the epgfilter (obviously haven't checked if it's feasible or not!)

If you add a channel that's already filtered, a popup tells you, and op is cancelled
If you remove a channel that's not in the filter- ditto!
But yes, we can improve the message box to remind about reloading EPG via Standby- good point!

Sorry, but I still don't get it!! Surely the only conditions under which Freddy's sectionsd is reading bouquets.xml is when Channels 1-60 EPG Mode is running?

Here, the epgfilter.xml file is ignored completely, surely? In any case, in the C11.3 version of this plugin, we disable the plugin from working if this EPG mode is active, ditto for Std VM EPG Mode (where the filter itself is also killed).

T-C have asked LraiZer to consider an alternative suggestion as to how to handle this feature, which would would address what Freddy is saying. But LraiZer is extremely busy on the work front for the next six weeks, so we'll just have to be patient. That is, if the idea is even workable...

The 01-12 plugin revision will be included in the next C11.3.11 Update, but we're treating it as non-urgent.

Cheers- AL

Sussed it! Apologies, my bad, my testing of the 25/11 fix was nowhere near thorough enough...

Here's what's happening: If Men & Motors is in the epgfilter.xml then because that channel name is NOT in services.xml - sectionsd ignores the entire filter list!

You'd think that sectionsd would ignore only the wrongly-named channel, and filter the remainder. But no, lincsat is 100% correct. Even though the epgfilter file 'appears' to be xml syntax-perfect, it is in fact totally corrupted as far as sectionsd is concerned!!

If the channel name in the filter is "Men & Motors" - this matches the same name in services.xml and sectionsd is then a happy bunny. Now to test LraiZer's Mk3 version, very thoroughly indeed!!

BTW- further testing proves conclusively that in sectionsd -useBouquets 60 mode, everything works properly with no epgfilter resident, therefore, only bouquets.xml is being addressed.

Cheers- AL

Test Results: Passed with flying colours! Tried it with Men & Motors and Teachers' TV and both get added with the correct codings to exactly match their respective names in services.xml. A magnificent piece of scripting, LraiZer!!

I suppose the fact that Crime & Investigation Channel has been sitting in our default epgfilter.xml all this bloody time should have alerted us to this issue, doh.....

I have an interim idea to keep Freddy happy, but scripting it is way over my head. PM on it's way Laz- after I get back from church.

the original plugins do not auto restart sectionsd, if (nhttp yweb) is installed it pops up a msg stating that a reboot is required to activate any changes. these original plugins have now also been fixed for the special symbols bug and should be compatible for both FF channel name only sectionsd mod and a standard sectionsd. original plugins

Before I contact LraiZer with a cunning plan, here's tweaked version of his 01/12 epgfilter fix for Freddy to try.

It has improved (more informative) popup messaging, and no longer kills/restarts sectionsd when you delete a channel from the filter. Instead, it tells you that the change will become active after the next Reboot, OR when you add a channel to the filter.

Messages also include a hint to reload long EPG with 20+mins in Standby (after a channel has been added to the filter, and sectionsd is restarted).

Hope you don't mind your work being bastardized, LraiZer? Cheers- AL

@FreddyFr0g: re your Epgfilter Plugin suggestions in post #71 above, any feedback yet, please, on the 'special' 1x test image I sent you, where this is all revamped and semi-intelligent now?

Or are you and LraiZer in cohorts to announce what's wrong with it, an hour after C11.3.11 update has been released across all the boards, LMAO!!

Yes, it's funnier like this (finding the glitch on release day) and it looks more professional as well - just look at Microsoft !

Sorry about the lack of time this week Al, I thought I wasn't going to have any time and then little toad, tadpole and I got this nasty "I vomit everywhere" bug evenly spaced out throughout the week... so even less time than I thought (and apart from nasty tales of people walking in some other people's sick, harmless)! I'm hoping next week will be better, but then obviously if you make a general release, I'll be finding stuff to complain about in no time lol !

There's a hold on release until the new Backup/Flash Menu is hunky-dory in the cosmetics department, LraiZer. So next weekend at the earliest, by the looks of it...

I've PM'd you some interesting test results based on your sectionsd thoughts, and have already made the epg menus more robust as a result of these findings.

Cheers- AL
