Default Commando 11.3.07 (and up) Upgrade

Just to say thanks for the new 11.03.07 update.
All installed without a problem.
And the stand-by volume works well (took a while to get to try it out! )

One setting was reset though, and that was start-up channel no biggie at all.

Hi, report on the 11.3.07 image
Quick upgrade - love it!
On the automount front though is the
Code:
if [ -e /var/etc/.automount ]; then
  /etc/init.d/start_automount
fi
disappeared?

or do you have to re-install the automount stuff for start_neutrino (or is it in rcS) to have it back?

Took me a couple of goes to install, had to remove an EMU to prevent loads of no space warnings making the image read only.

All updated in the end, re-set the start channel, just having a play now, adding a few channels to the EPG Filter, one initial comment - is 12000 events enough for the EPG?

@Freddy, I've never used Automount, but I notice there is an Automount on/off in the Driver & Boot options - do you need that switching ON there?

I PM'd you about this, Freddy! Yes, it's gone now, due to the negative feedback you gave regarding our attempts to automate this, m8! The Automount and Streaming stuff still gets installed with the CIFS and/or NFS bundles, then (as Lincsat points out) you go to Driver/Boot and switch Automount ON there- then reboot to start it.

Or leave it OFF, as you were saying some will prefer to have it, in which case- no reboot needed. This change does get a brief mention in the readme.txt

Cheers- AL

Crikey! What on earth have you loaded C11.3 up with, lincsat? Even the 'full-house' C11 had 1.4mb Free Space!! Did you reboot beforehand, like it tells you to do in the destructions?

Lots of testing on Freddy's new quad-mode sectionsd, in all four modes. He gained the largest memory saving by removing all the Long Descriptions data for the non-filtered Now+Next Only channels. We've also limited long EPG channels to 60 max. All modes now appear to be 100% stable, with no weird side effects caused by Free RAM becoming too low.

We're using 12000 for Bouquets Mode - Channels 1-60 and also for Selective 7 Day Mode. For Enhanced VM Mode (up to 3 days), it's reduced to 6000. While for the new Std VM Mode (up to 1 day on ALL channels; filter made null)- we use 9000.

If you check Services > EPG Stats, you'll find the number of Events being cached is always well inside our set maximums, no matter which of the four EPG modes you're running, m8.

Cheers- AL

Hummm, you PM'd me about removing it from the add script I believed... if you remove it from rcS (I can't remember if you had it in rcS or start_neutrino, a yadd image has it in rcS though) then it doesn't matter if you go to Driver/Boot and switch it on because *nothing* is going to mount it on reboot (hence the .automount file created by the switch is ignored and start_automount never ran)

I think it's time you all held a Vote to have me put out to graze...

Yes, that section WAS removed from start_neutrino (but this was in error).

Freddy- connect your box online and check for Updates. See what you think, m8? Tested out fine for me - (now 11.3.08).

I've also started this maintained thread to announce updates on an ongoing basis:

Commando 11.3.07 (and up): Updates

How did this mistake occur? Parallel modding of V+ 3.0 is my excuse - and a lapse of concentration. Automount is a definate no-no in V+3.0 - but somehow it's start_neutrino found it's way into C11.3.07

Report back after the update, please?

Cheers- AL

ps- I don't see how it's going to be a feasible proposition to announce these updates on A-F, D-K, DWZ, TS, UL, and WoD - not unless their Admins grant Renny and me restricted Mod rights in order we can maintain the thread on each board...

what sort of extra rights do you need on TS AL,
is it just the ability to edit the posts at a later stage or do you need more?

That's it in a nutshell, Wiz- although TS was NOT one of the boards last night where my hair was dropping out in a panic! At least I could get back in there and correct things, with an explanation...

Yes- the ability to always to be able to get back into post #1 in a thread started by me, irrespective of any replies by others (or myself) further down.

That way, only the very latest download version would always be available, in the opening post of that thread- not buried away in dozens of replies later. Is that possible, m8?

Cheers- AL
