Commando 10c

==========================================

Bugs fixed:
No scrolling in Bouquet Editor (CVS bug, now fixed)
NFS bug (missing file- should now be OK)

What's New, then?

7 Day EPG v3

With the valued assistance of FreddyFrog, we've given the EPG a major make-over, including:

+ A new Blue button menu for 7 Day EPG

+ Option to change the default 'standard' sectionsd EPG to 7 Day EPG for YOUR provider!

+ dbox automatically switches to the PVR_EPG channel in Standby Mode - to pull in the extended 7 days epg. When you wake the box up, it switches back to the previously viewed channel. Always assuming that the PVR_EPG channel actually exists in your services.xml file- for without it, you'll be peeing into the wind, so far as extended EPG is concerned!

+ Simplified daily Timers

You can easily edit these times up or down in hourly increments, to suit your daily routine. The channel you wake up to is entirely dependant on your preferred settings in Settings > Misc > Zapit Config -ie:

Save last Channel = true (you'll wake up to RedHot 40+ Wives )

Save last Channel = false
Start TV Channel on = (whatever channel you select)

***** [Edit by AL: Talking outa my ass there! With that set of Timers, the box will wake up to BBC ONE. So if you want a different channel to show- just delete that middle timer and make a new 'daily' Zapto timer using your preferred wake-up channel. Eazy peazy!] *****

Even if you are running with sectionsd in 'standard' mode, (which usually gives a maximum of 15 hours epg across all channels), you'll find these daily timers will now give you 3 to 4 Days EPG!! Also, users who prefer this mode can still restrict selected channels to Now 'n Next epg only, by populating the old_epgfilter.xml file in accordance with the simple instructions in the header text of that file.

When switching from standard to 7 Day (for ntl, ex-C&W, or TW)- or vice versa, a reboot is required so the new epgfilter data is read into memory. A pop-up message will ask you if you want to do this.

Experienced 7 Day EPG users can edit 'their' filter file (ntl, C&W, TW) - as whichever one has been selected is now SymLinked 'as' epgfilter.xml

'Your' filter contains the channels you do want long EPG for.

Summary: A famous politician once said "You can't please all the people all the time". Well, Team-Commando and FreddyFrog have done their utmost to prove that theory wrong, at least in the EPG department!

Credits:
FreddyFrog - for sectionsd dual mode (and moaning about NFS)
Tyke- for his TW filter
Derekwd- for his exC&W filter (sorry about crossing names in the menu...)
Renwich- for creating the image of 2008
AL- for his ntl filter, and scripting all this new 7 Day stuff etc

Yep- reboot every 40 minutes.

Seriously, though- are you using an identical softcam & uCode combination that you used in C9.25? If yes, then you're answer probably lies in the Driver & Boot Options menu.

Maybe the best way is to backup your image, then reflash with your 9.25 backup, note down all the settings in that same menu, then replicate the same settings after reflashing with C10c

Cheers- AL

Finally got rid of the in laws and got a chance to try 10c. So far excellent. I've got EPG till next Wednesday. Fast scan worked a treat too. I'm gonna try some streaming now, I'll leave more feedback when I can.

Cheers guys

Thanks for the work that went into this image everyone.

Working 90% ok, just a few issues/bugs:

The LCD EPG does not update, even if left for hours on 1 channel. Update time with sectionsd is 30min but still not updating.
No Upnp browser (really miss this, any ideas how to install again).
Audio settings for NAR or English are not saved after a re-boot or even if I change channels and back again.
Boot time takes a while compared to other new images.
7 day EPG is slow to scroll through. Can you browse by day, or jump 24hrs forward? Still checking in 7 day EPG is correct for my area.
yWeb mostly in German.
Streaming and control from yWeb works 50%, still the issues with no picture or sound or both on "some" channels.
Streaming to dBox works fine (for audio, pictures and TS files), jumpy playback for other files via VLC 0.9.8a (may be VLC issue).
Rounded corners does not apply to the Commando System Menu (always square).
Can't create a readable backup with yWeb or service menu, when I try to open it with TuxFlash I get an error (empty image, something in German). Laky-Sylas worked ok to back-up this way. Could it be the size of 7 day EPG causing a problem?

One more thing is the image branding!!
Are UkCvs a sponsor of Commando? Text on Boot LCD Logo, boot screen, start-up picture and in menus, plus all the Commando logos. I am in favour of giving credit to the creators and developers but this is a bit too much.

Overall a good image. Thanks.
Do you have any fixes for the bugs above?

Fixed:
Can't shut-down using remote (holding the power button for a few seconds normally shuts-down but not with this image, it will only go to stand-by).
Fixed in Settings, Misc, Key Repeat Blocker, Delayed Shutdown > ON

The nightly timers cause the picture to go blank when I switch on in the morning. It is on PVR_EPG and not the last channel I watched and even if I change channel they are blank until I re-boot.
May be a fix: Checked the timer settings and the PVR_EPG channel was unknown, moved this to my visible bouquets and created a new timer, will find out tomorrow.

Press Blue then Yellow and study the 3 Daily Timers. Clearly, the no.2 'Wake-up' Channel timer isn't correct for you, as you reside in TW or exC&W, don't you? So Delete this Timer, then make a fresh Daily Zapto Timer choosing 'your' preferred Channel to show, when you wake the box up from Standby in the morning!
You can even put the box into your beloved Shutdown Mode before you go to bed- and this little lot will still work...

By default, sectionsd is in the standard nationwide 15 hour EPG mode. Are you running C10c, or an earlier version? Because going into Standby should zapto PVR_EPG by name - so this should be kosher for all three regions, IF the PVR_EPG channel is in your services.xml file.

A few minutes in PVR_EPG (or in Standby) should increase the standard EPG to 4 Days! See the C10c release notes (does anyone ever read these?) for more info on getting 7 Days EPG up and running, by selecting your Area in the new Blue > Blue > Yellow EPG Menu...

No Upnp browser (really miss this, any ideas how to install again).
Grab it out of an older image that has it, and transplant it. The effort has been concentrated on getting IDE-HDD up and running properly, including XFS. I'm sure if you search pt-1's posts on UnLockers- you'll find all the info on UpNp as a BOT.

Audio settings for NAR or English are not saved after a re-boot or even if I change channels and back again.
So what is var/tuxbox/config/zapit/audio.pid doing? Yes, it looks like this file is renewed each boot, but I'm pretty sure the AD settings on a per-channel basis ARE being remembered for the next session. I'll test this further- but if I'm wrong (not for the first time, and certainly not the last, LOL!)- it's a CVS issue, not unique to C10c...

Can't shut-down using remote (holding the power button for a few seconds normally shuts-down but not with this image, it will only go to stand-by).
Go Settings > Misc > Key repeat-blocker > Delayed Shutdown on and Restart Neutrino, if pressing dbox then (') Power button is too much effort for you.

Startup Animation? Startup Sound? Commando must-haves, but these undoubtedly add to boot time. Try with them switched off in Driver/Boot Settings.

Have you tried the Vol + / - keys, to Page Up and Down?? Jeez...

yWeb mostly in German.
Maybe coz yJogol is German? But most of it is bi-lingual. Trouble is, when we spend a week making it all 100% English, (as I and others did for C9), he goes and brings out another update, LOL! Nothing stopping you from stripping all the German out of his .yhtm files and making it sensible English. Then sharing this with Renny, Gav, Lincsat ét al... But there's a few lingering words in nhttpd that might have you stumped- Hex Editor time! (If you can uncompress it...)

Don't use this, so guessing. Use uCode 0014? SPTS Mode?

What 'other' files?

If you care to re-code shellexec, you might get your rounded corners. Meantime, be thankful that the latest Shellexec at least mimics the colours in your chosen Neutrino Theme - even down to 3D Color buttons!

Utter bollox! Did we forget to click on box 3 for Flash w/o Bootloader before pressing Download button?? Just worked perfectly for me, LOL!

This 'branding' burned into the heart of the image is a peccadillo of the image creator, who is trying to prevent the low-life out there from re-branding his creation, then passing it off as their own work.

It also spreads the good word UkCvs.org around the rest of the boards that decide to host THE Image of 2008. In particular- http://world-of-digital.com who we all believed to be close friends and allies, but in fact prefer to censor any mention of our URL to www.*****.org

There, sorry it's a bit too much for you, but you'll find the same sort of UkCvs branding in SS-Enigma 4.0 too.

I wonder how long it takes for the spies to pull Commando 10c and SS-Enigma 4.0 from their site, pmsl...

Cheers- AL

Ah- I see you 'fixed' some of the 'bugs' while I was writing this book!

Which tells me that you're not even on C10c, you plonker!! Please read post #1 in this thread and look at the Screenshots, ffs!

Where is PVR_EPG channel mentioned in the new Timers screen? It isn't!

Shutdown
Wake-up Channel
Standby

A nationwide solution for a bugbear from \/+2.1 and C10 original, FIXED in C10c. Now please flash the latest version and pull that to bits, m8!
