Commando 10c

==========================================

Bugs fixed:
No scrolling in Bouquet Editor (CVS bug, now fixed)
NFS bug (missing file- should now be OK)

What's New, then?

7 Day EPG v3

With the valued assistance of FreddyFrog, we've given the EPG a major make-over, including:

+ A new Blue button menu for 7 Day EPG

+ Option to change the default 'standard' sectionsd EPG to 7 Day EPG for YOUR provider!

+ dbox automatically switches to the PVR_EPG channel in Standby Mode - to pull in the extended 7 days epg. When you wake the box up, it switches back to the previously viewed channel. Always assuming that the PVR_EPG channel actually exists in your services.xml file- for without it, you'll be peeing into the wind, so far as extended EPG is concerned!

+ Simplified daily Timers

You can easily edit these times up or down in hourly increments, to suit your daily routine. The channel you wake up to is entirely dependant on your preferred settings in Settings > Misc > Zapit Config -ie:

Save last Channel = true (you'll wake up to RedHot 40+ Wives )

Save last Channel = false
Start TV Channel on = (whatever channel you select)

***** [Edit by AL: Talking outa my ass there! With that set of Timers, the box will wake up to BBC ONE. So if you want a different channel to show- just delete that middle timer and make a new 'daily' Zapto timer using your preferred wake-up channel. Eazy peazy!] *****

Even if you are running with sectionsd in 'standard' mode, (which usually gives a maximum of 15 hours epg across all channels), you'll find these daily timers will now give you 3 to 4 Days EPG!! Also, users who prefer this mode can still restrict selected channels to Now 'n Next epg only, by populating the old_epgfilter.xml file in accordance with the simple instructions in the header text of that file.

When switching from standard to 7 Day (for ntl, ex-C&W, or TW)- or vice versa, a reboot is required so the new epgfilter data is read into memory. A pop-up message will ask you if you want to do this.

Experienced 7 Day EPG users can edit 'their' filter file (ntl, C&W, TW) - as whichever one has been selected is now SymLinked 'as' epgfilter.xml

'Your' filter contains the channels you do want long EPG for.

Summary: A famous politician once said "You can't please all the people all the time". Well, Team-Commando and FreddyFrog have done their utmost to prove that theory wrong, at least in the EPG department!

Credits:
FreddyFrog - for sectionsd dual mode (and moaning about NFS)
Tyke- for his TW filter
Derekwd- for his exC&W filter (sorry about crossing names in the menu...)
Renwich- for creating the image of 2008
AL- for his ntl filter, and scripting all this new 7 Day stuff etc

I've added the 10c Release Notes as a downloadable PDF file- as this might be a handy reference tool for noobs to have locally during their initial setup.

Cheers- AL

Hey! I'm not even moaning about nfs now as it's working great (thanks Renny)!
Great update, I even managed to get automount working!
Just add something like this in start_neutrino
Code:
if [ -e /var/etc/.automount ]; then
  /etc/init.d/start_automount
fi
I'm not sure if it's the best place to put it but it works for me!

Then obviously do a
Code:
touch /var/etc/.automount
so that if you no longer want aumount to work, you can just remove the .automount file.

One more thing delete the /etc/auto.net so that you can create this symlink
Code:
ln -s /var/etc/auto.net /etc/auto.net
so that you can use the webinterface to set up your auto mount stuff easily!

The automount folders are mounting by default under /var/autofs but you can edit start_automount and the AUTOFSMOUNTDIR variable to change this.
start_automount loads all the mandatory lib files to be able to nfs mount

I'll have to delegate that little lot for you to diff into 10d, Renny, as I'm too busy working on the top secret Operation Bouquets project.

But I think Freddy's touch /var/etc/.automount (and rm /var/etc/.automount) need to be a simple toggling menu item somewhere in shellexec. What say ye?

Freddy- if you're testing this with C10c - have you played with the EPG menu, m8?

Cheers- AL

Thumbs up
Renny, that was quick! Can't help noticing you have FullDuplex on? Did you do the hardware modifications to make it work?

Re: feedback, just an other quick thing that I noticed yesterday when I wanted to record the QI special, pressing red, red doesn't give you the option to set a recording timer, you have to go red, green to have the option.. sorry if someone already reported that one - obviously not the end of the world but that's the only thing I can give as feedback... apart the fact that I'm LOVING that image!
