Commando 10d
the Final Frontier... (at last!)

What's new?
  • 31st January 2009 CVS build
  • new Kernel 2.4.73
  • more files super-compressed (1.4mb free, with usual add-ins)
  • added SMBFS (Samba) support for NAS drives and the like
  • New Automount Menu
  • bang uptodate Channel Icons
  • more Default Settings changed by popular demand
  • friendlier Menu descriptors for that 'personal' touch
  • New Hall of Fame credits under Blue button menus
  • yWeb now personalized with UkCvs.org logo
  • Set My Area for 7 Day EPG - now works 'on the fly'
  • Subtle, but drastic improvements to Zapit Config menu
Lets's have a closer look at that last one...

Notice the addition of the Red button to Save settings

Also notice a new item at the bottom-

Show Unsorted Bouquet? Yes / No

- a lot of brains went into bringing this innocuous looking item into menu form, Cydine, Speedy, LraiZer etc. It works instantly- 'on the fly', and should prove to be a valuable feature for lots of Commando users, if you think about it...

The boring bumpth:

As usual, it's FTA- so no softcams, roms, nor keys are in this image; you know the rules, and should know the routine by now!

User is root and password is commando for Telnet and FTP access, as always.

No credits here in the Release Notes- they're all in the Image now!

Enjoy!

Team-Commando (Renwich and PaphosAL)

...and if you download, then please have the courtesy to press the Thanks button- so all the peep's brains that have gone into this image know that they're appreciated!!

Hey PaphosAL cheers for the speedy response. As for the release notes I did read them up mate "Honest" guv lol. Well i did for 10c but not this latest one. Anyway back on track I did set up my 7Day by using the TW - (By Tyke) in the commando menu. I did notice that on this image it did not prompt me to restart but on the other C10 images (A,B+C) it did require a restart.
I shall dig out the release notes again to see if i have missed anything out.
As for checking for epg-0 exists - Sorry mate you lost me If you can tell me where it resides then i will ftp in and check it out.
Thanks again for the response.

Edit to add - I actually edited the TW filter to suit my needs. There is approx 20 channels in my list(Epgfilter).

theres a few versions of the remote out. on all the ones i have seen, there is a question mark bottom right (also with the word Hilfe - not hi life, on the premiere type remote as per LraiZer's post) or, on the sagem type, below the red button at the top.
however i have just seen one with the word "text" on it - still bottom right, but confusingly labelled. maybe this is it.
incidentally this remote also has a musical note symbol instead of "home" and "TV" instead of "dbox".
hope this helps, if you havent got round to supplying a picture yet!

In 10d, the switch from std EPG to 7 Day (for your selected area) is now done 'on the fly' - with no reboot needed. This action should also remove this marker file:
Code:

/var/etc/.epg-o
Sorry I forgot to give you it's path.

The 20 channnels you have in your epgfilter should be the ones you DO want 7 days epg for. Important: You must leave it named TW_epgfilter.xml as this is the file that the SymLink named epgfilter.xml in the same folder is linking to!

Cheers- AL

Once again cheers for the reply. I have checked for the epg-o file and can confirm its gone. I would like to stress that the 7Day EPG does actually work fine. Its just the educational stuff stops working after the channel has been on pvr_EPG channel. Same if i put it on standby - the educational stuff stops working.

After this point the educational stuff stops working and needs a full restart before it comes back on. It doesnt say anything when on an encrypted channel not "Channel Not Available" nor "waiting for time" it just kind of doesnt decode lol.
Dont know if the part of my log file would help find the root of the problem. But thanks again for looking.

Well like I said, here in pure 5401- we get similar behaviour if we're in std EPG mode, then switch to PVR_EPG to grab the maximum 4 days EPG normally possible with the 'cvs' sectionsd.

It grabs the epg data fine, but kills the emu stone dead from doing it's job, even though the emu is still active in memory. We have made FreddyFrog aware of this issue, and he's looking into it- from his 7 Day EPG sectionsd standpoint.

So, this might be pertinent to TW, but not pure nor exC&W? If so, you're the only TW user that's reported it, that I know of. Test for you: Revert to std 15 hour EPG mode, and see if the emu still conks out.

Meanwhile- I've ran some more tests today, as logic would suggest that the standby.on and standby.off scripts could be modified thus:
  • Enter Standby
  • kill the current emu
  • remember current channel
  • switch to PVR_EPG
  • .....
  • Leave Standby
  • switch to remembered channel
  • start current emu
And it STILL won't fooking play ball.... Try your std EPG test and see if what's happening to you in TW is the dead opposite of us in the other two regions, pls.

Cheers- AL

Right PaphosAL i did what you suggested - Reverted back to standard EPG and switched over to PVR EPG - left it 10 mins and switched over to an encrypted channel and hey presto.....It worked lol. I am going to do some more thorough testing today with various settings - Ie Going to flash a "clean" untampered image (Since i mucked around with TW Epg filter ect) I will do a few tests regarding the 15 hour just to confirm my previous findings.
Also worth noting If i leave my box on The 7 Day EPG with my TW filter on I can get the emu working as long as I only leave it on pvr channel for like 2 mins. Same goes for leaving in standby....any more than 2 mins = EMU not working.
Like I said I will do some more testing today/tonight......as the boss (misses) is away so I can fiddle lol, otherwise she would kill me

Hi,
Out of hibernation for a bit lol !
I'm having a look at this but unfortunately can't reproduce so it's a bit hard to debug. But your logs are quite interesting I find why the 'Config file not found,camd35 client disabled!!' at the end?
I remember an option (maybe in sportster images maybe) where you can disable cam on standby... anyone remember this? (maybe just using standby on/off as sugested by Al)

Maybe the emu doesn't find the config file and stops? Also, is that causing problems with all emus or have you only tried with one?

Already tested a modded set of standby.off and standby.on files, Freddy- shutting evocamd down before switching to PVR_EPG - and restarting it after wakeup, prior to switching back to the original channel.

No joy, m8... If I run the whole routine manually via telnet, then evocamd is giving me a similar log. What on earth is this camd35 client it's moaning about?

To recap- I only see this problem in pure 5401 when latest FF sectionsd is started with the -disableVirgin extension.

When started normally (in 7 Day EPG mode, there are no problems.

Cheers- AL

Thanks, Bends.

Tried to take a picture as Al advised, only camera I've got is on my fone, which I couldn't get to connect to my PC (this starting to sound familiar?). I've since managed to access the basic functions on the remote (which is all I need).
As for the C10D image, Thanx again Al/Renwich, spot on.
Only comment, I need to restart EPG regularly, which is no ordeal. I know you have described in detail how to sort this, but seeing as I'm new to all this, I'm quite happy to leave well alone.
I've got a spare Nokia Dbox 2, so I'm going to use that for experimenting, but will keep your excellent img, on my main box.
Thanx again lads.
