This is completely experimental. This module allows NTFS support, meaning that those with the IDE kits can format their drives in NTFS and use it on the DBOX2. They can then remove the drive at a later date and plug it back into their Windows machine, and the contents will be readable.
Compare this to EXT2/EXT3/XFS where you will not be able to see the contents on a Windows system. I have no idea what NTFS is like on the DBOX2 in terms of read/write speed, and I have no idea why anybody would want to try this other than for the reasons mentioned above. Give it a go I reckon? This will need to go in: /lib/tuxbox/modules/kernel/fs/ntfs You can use it by running modprobe ntfs at startup, or using insmod ntfs and rmmod ntfs to manually insert and remove NTFS support as required. Hope this is of use to somebody, I personally do not have an IDE kit or even a box to try it with lol. If you need any other tools to go with this (ie ntfsmount, ntfsprogs, ntfs4fs etc) then let me know and I will compile those too - however this should be a kernel module which works independantly of that. |
