Just check in the aerial socket on the back of your box, to see if the centre part has opened up, the centre part is split, might not be your problem but my m8s box had high ber and it was that squeezed it together with some long nose pliers and improved it greatly.

Have to say though he could still get the channels but kept freezing, so wasent as bad as yours lol, worth a try though.

If you have your readings correctly labelled, then a SIGnal of 60,000+ is waaaaay too strong. Try an inline M/F F-type Attenuator between the cable end and Antenna socket (with a F to Coax adaptor).

These come in 3dB, 6dB, 10dB ratings. The higher the number, the more it drops the signal strength- the dead opposite of a signal booster.

However, if your SIG is really the 30,000 figure, then this is too low. Should be in the range 35,000 - 43,000. Try again with the box connected directly to the incoming wall socket, using a known-good patch lead.

Finally, if your splitting to dbox and cable modem and both have short patch leads, try a 5m + lead from splitter to modem.

Cheers- AL

thanks AL, i have another working dbox that is 100% fine, i know what your saying about the modem & dbox close together, im guessing interferance.

my other dbox is fine though so i guess that isnt the problem.
when i switch dbox off and put it back of, the signals change, it depends what they are when the box boots up it gives different results.

i have a booster, that i bought ages ago when the dbox broken originally, thinking it might of needed that, but that never worked either.

so like you said the opposite may work?

obviously the tuner is goosed at the moment, so these tests will help me decide what wrong with it, ill give them a go. cheers for the feedback guys
