ok guys might be doing summat wrong here,after settin up a vmware,got ubuntu installed,got it connected to the net no probs,found the ip of vm pc

ok after a few hours googlin and ubuntu forums,ive finaly got putty connected
to the vm pc,i never had ssh installed on the vm machine,anyway i hope this will help in the future |

This may or may not be useful info. When setting up a new connection in putty you can choose the "Connection type" - a group of radio buttons. "SSH" is the default option. If you change this to "Telnet" you should have no problem connecting to most hosts - I use this when connecting direct to the dbox.
