Default dbox repairs

Hi all,
Anybody do any repairs on boxes ie soldering in chips or anything.I just changed my lcd and it flashed and i think it's blown the frontchip. Its way to small for me to have a go at and there's no guarantee its just that .Might be time for it to go up to the tv stand in the sky.I've even scoured fleabay for another box close to me to see if i can go and get one ,but they all asking to much money.I'm now the biggest villain in the world to the kids.So if there's any one that may be able to help me in manchester give me a shout.Cheers all.

I'm able to do the repairs, but you've blown the front processor (FP), either because the power was still on or the caps still had a charge left in them. I could do it, but if you dont have another WORKING replacement IC to put in its place then the box is as good as a doorstop anyway.

I'm pretty sure this is the chip that has gone.

Not sure though as to what else may have gone as it popped.its hard to decide whether to attempt a repair(not by myself) or to pre re ready myself for the nagra 3 revolution and buy myself a box that is capable of de crypting it,if the software becomes available.Funny liam ,its an lcd that i bought of you about two years ago !.Dont worry though i dont blame you lol.......

That LCD is fine and fully tested :P lol.
Yeah thats the part thats failed. Dont ever attempt it with a standard soldering iron, get a rework station for that sort of stuff but dont set the heat too high or it'll kill the chip

35 quid is far too much on that site for what that is, would be great if you could find a faulty box that had other issues and then swap the part out.

Gonna wait a bit with this box and keep my eyes open for a knackered one on fleabay.Sorted another dbox2 from germany to keep me going for a while,£92 delivered doh.Im fancying maybe the new eurovox 7000 or a dm800,the latter being expensive but would be nice to play about with.cant really have a box like the eurovox without the option of having different software to try week in week out. Both would look good on my 46" lcd though. Thanks for the offer Liam i'll let you know if i find a chip cheap.
