Ok, i give up. I've searched all through the site, i've googled, and i'm now ready to call it a day.
I have 2 nokia boxes. 1 works fine. The other won't scan for channels. I transferred the working image from my other box, so all the settings are the same, but when i do a transponder scan it finds transponders but no channels. I'm assuming it's going to be a faulty tuner, but before i bin the thing is there anything else i should try? Thanx in advance for any help. G. |

what happens if you put the services file on from the working one?
just flash the whole working image - no need to re-scan |

Yep, done that. flashed the whole image from the working box.
The faulty box scans all 376 transponders and then just says no channels found. It won't even find the free to air channels, which is why i'm thinking it is the tuner. I'll be gearing up the screwdriver and big hammer as you're reading this....

You're totally missing the point that MOS is trying to convey to you m8. And gawd knows why you originally posted this in the dBox Tutorials section??
You have the advantage of one box that does the biz, and another one that doesn't. So concentrate on the good box, and get your services and bouquets etc all working as you wish them to be. When you're 100% happy with the good box, do a Flash without Bootloader backup of it's image, then FTP this to your PC. Now connect your iffy box and FTP your backed-up image to that box, to the /tmp folder and nowhere else. Then reflash the iffy box, again choosing the Flash w/o Bootloader option. Voilá! You're iffy box should now be an exact clone of your good box, with no need for Re-Scanning!! But if it STILL reports 'No Channels found' - the penny will slowly drop that your iffy box is indeed iffy. ie: Tuner shagged. Cheers- AL

Not to sound ungrateful or anything for the help given so far, but i don't think i've been missing the point at all. If you care to read my first post carefully you will see i transferred the image from my working box. I already understood the faulty box would be a clone of the working one.
The faulty box still showed no channels which is why i scanned. So the responses given, although appreciated, were of no help because they were only telling me to do what i had already done. What i would have liked to have known, is if it possible to detect a faulty tuner by signal strength, and how to check that, or if any images have helped similar cases to my own in the past. Anyway, thanx for attempting to help both of you. I'll keep the faulty box for spares and buy another. Oh, and i apologise for posting in the tut section. Even I, it seems, can make mistakes. G |

Check crappy box for signal quality:
Switch to an encrypted channel, then press RED then BLUE. Report back on the approx readings you see for BER - SNR - SIG And if you txfr a 100% working image from one box to another identical box, and it doesn't work, Rescanning on the second box is an utter waste of time!
