Default Historical Question!

Hi guys,

Just recently got my db2 up and running having gotten it from a friend who'd left it idle for a year.

The image thats on it is Sportster 1.03 and I just had a couple of questions about that:

1: Is sportster now defunct, because I havn't seen a sportster image anywhere on either forums. Although I saw mention of a 1.7 version. Has it been renamed?

2: Is sportster specific to db2 x1, which is the box I have?

Thanks in advance,

Dav.

Edit: Oh! And does anyone know the timeline history/development of sportster images?

Sportster is proper old now, 1.73 was around in 2006 at least. Might be worth looking at alternatives.

Firstlt, apologies to the forum moderators for posting in the wrong section!

Secondly, do I just copy everything over via ftp from the bbox to my hdd in order to back up properly, or should I be telling the box via remote to do this?

Sorry if it sounds dumb but I've never done it and couldn't find a tut.

Cheers,

Dav.

no to back up whole img its dbox - service - img upgrade/backup - may be expert functions - back up one partition - flash without bootloader, this will save the img into the dbox / tmp folder (do not power down box as u will lose img) its name will be mtd3.img or mtd4.img and will be 7.88mb in size. transfer this to pc rename and date it.....this is an exact copy of ur img including service bouquets etc

Sportster used to be the 'best of breed' but they were only mildly converted German images - some of the early ones still had German menus. Your very old one won't have any of the new scanning capabilities nor will the special bits have the 'work a rounds' that have been coded in the interim.
