I have a query regarding channel numbers but am not sure where the best place to post this at so hopefully here is ok.
I have been wondering for quite some time now, you know like on some channels it tells you the channel numbers for other channels and so on, well I was wonder is there anyway for the dbox to be programmed to put the right channels on the right numbers ? I realise they dont really need to be but I was just wondering as if its possible i'd like to do it on my dbox2. |

Not possible, I'm afraid, m8. We've just been down this route with cydine's wonderful new Scan setup, where Bouquet - create new has been given a major recoding by him.
Before, this used to create 300+ gobbledygook named Bouquets, each containing one channel! Now, cydine creates 11 new VM style Bouquets, all properly named and each containing the correct channels for that bouquet. He even gives a Channel Sorting option: default- VM sort order, or the user can choose A-Z order. He took a good look at trying to replicate the VM channel numbers themselves, just like you are asking about. VM starts at 101 and has gaps in the numbering sequence all over the place. Unfortunately, neutrino and zapit both insist on the numbering sequence starting at 1, and contiguous- ie: no gaps allowed. Cheers- AL

Well, you're the man to do it, m8! If you reckon you can fix Eurovox, that is. Doesn't eurovox Scan pick up the correct vm channel numbers and buckets? If so- just find out how it does this, then rebuild neutrino and zapit to do the same, LOL!
Cheers- AL

You've missed the point, m8. If cydine has tried, but says that neutrino won't allow it- then you'd better believe that what you seek is not possible...
Just be thankful for the fact that you can arrange 300+ channels in any numerical sequence you wish on dbox2 running neutrino or enigma! 1 could (sensibly) be BBC ONE, or you could make it QVC, or Sly Sports 1, or even Gay TV, LMAO! Try that with a VM box... Cheers- AL

Agreed, cydine. If we think about it- is there ANY logic or sense in the vm channel numbering sequence? No. Do vm allow you to shuffle the channel ordering (and channel numbers) around? No.
And it was only when Richie added the VM branding, and their GUI went to black and yellow (changeable? No)- that we even saw any attempt at sensible Bouquets from them! (Changeable? No) I wasn't the only person to spot the uncanny resemblance between their 'new' bouquets, and what we'd been doing in neutrino for 3 years prior- I called them a bunch of pirates, LOL!

Quote:
it will be a pain in the A$$ to try, but i think it could be possible using just the bouquet editor to set any channel to any channel number and therefore set all visible channels to VM channel list order number, even skipping and missing out channel numbers but this method will add many unused hidden entrys to your bouquet file. how? add unused hidden channels to increment next channel number. try this...add a new bouquet category to your bouquet list and then add, "lets say any 100 channels" to that new bouquet category and move that bouquet category to top of your bouquet list and set its attribute to hidden. you will now see that the first channel number in your unhidden channels when you press the OK button to view your bouqet channels is 101. ie. BBC1 should now be set as channel 101 if it is first enty in your first visible bouquet. press 101 on remote will now give BBC1 |

So there you go, myksterx- if you wanna try LraiZer's dirty method, LOL- here's the current vm channel names and numbers:
http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/displaye...rm=digitalplus But I estimate your bouquets.xml is going to grow from 15 - 30kb in size, to more like 200kb!! Cheers- AL
