Question Optical Out Dolby Digital

Hi all, Was wondering if anyone could answer a few questions?
Does the optical out on the back of the dbox actually transmit a signal?
Should I be able to connect it up to my (ordered) amp through an optical lead?
What settings do I need to change in the commando/neutrino images?
Do all channels transmit Dolby Digital 5.1?

Thanks in advance.
Regards
Mo

Hi all I got my reciever and Speakers anyway. MY DVD player and Xbox 360 sound great. Guess what doesn't sound so great? You got it the Dbox 2. I have connected via the optical out and get Dolby Pro logic only. I don't seem to get the full 5.1 experience. Any ideas?

i don't think any of the images support 5.1/DTS, even then, is it not down to the broadcaster? i'm sure why i had sky it was only some of the movie channels that were in 5.1

Does the Dolby Pro Logic via the Optical out sound superior to the audio quality you get via the scart connection? If the answer is yes- then you have yourself a good result, m8!

Remember, these boxes were probably built before Dolby 5.1 was even thought of, LOL!

Cheers- AL

No UK cable channel transmits 5.1 audio.
