can one of you clever lot help me? I've got a growing collection of films on my PC hard drive, mostly divx & xvid .avi files, but a few mpg ones thrown in too. I'm currently using VLC to convert & stream them to the dbox on the fly, which works reasonably well providing i don't want to fastforward/rewind.
however I've got a 1TB NAS drive sat here, and ideally I'd like to convert all my films to the .ts format that the dbox records in so i can play them whenever without having to have the computer on. so what's the best program for this? I presume VLC will do it somehow, but after several failed attempts I'm a bit stumped with the settings as it is not particularly intuitive. I've tried super converter, which looks promising but seems to crash right near the end of the file. anyone done this before, or give us any pointing? |

ive had some limited success converting .mpg to .ts with vlc
open this .bat file and the read contents with a txt editor. if its configured correct for your system then just drop your mpg file onto this windows batch file to auto start the vlc encoding. |

@wisaevrami
I have validated some of your posts as I thought them useful but it might be an idea to introduce yourself in the "why not say hi" section before you start to look like a hit and run merchant

Try :
ProjectX or MPEG-VCR - see if they can do the job i use MPEG-VCR to convert .TS streams to MPEG1 avi's, i'm sure it would work the other way |
