Corrupt Image ?

Hi all,
1st day of UkCvs.org
1st day of Dbox. purchased off fleabay over the weekend after a night out & far to much

Ive opperated on Pace boxes before, so how hard can a dbox2 be ?
it has 2xIntel chips. and commando 10 image.
apon booting, the box freezes with "loading kernel" on the front LCD.
ive tried unplugging for 5mins without joy

Remote & front console buttons do nothing!
any ideas anyone ?

OK, to rule a lot of things out, start by re-flashing the box, you need IFA and an image like commando (both available on here).

If you are lucky, the previous owner cocked up flashing it or did summat else wrong, but quite often, peeps (uk sellers anyway) knowingly sell a duff box on ebay with a duff description saying they don't know what is wrong with it (when they full well know the box is goosed)!

Could be read only due to uploading too much to it, bad flash etc etc etc.

As your remote is not responding, Start from scratch, get IFA, a crossover (or straight ethernet cable, depending on if you flash through a router) and nullmodem cable (to be safe) and an image from here.

Reflash it and see if you still have the same problem. Then post up your results again.

Morning everybody !

Flashed the box last night with "Commando_10_powered_by_UkCvs.org_x2_31-01-2009_18h21"
using the IFA "DBOX2 Image-Flashing-Assistent.exe" ver 3.1.0.0

The box rebooted, i now get text with the version number & date stamp.
the screen says "loading commando......." & theres a lady who keeps kissing my LCD screen, then buggers off, & comes back again !

I left the box in this mode for about 30mins should it take that long to load ?
Have i toasted my Dbox yet ?

no, only about 20 seconds. Sounds like it's got a suitable image on (2x chip version) as it's past the 'loading kernel' bit but it's not getting any further. Not sounding too good. might be worth re-flashing again, just to see if it does anothing different.

Next step after that is to get a boot log from the box and post it here for some of the experts to take a look at and see what it's doing as it boots - for this you'll need a null modem cable and a bit of software called 'Dboxcommander' i think it's called, or might be 'DboxManager'

what about the dbox is that getting past any loading stage? id sort that out before you have a do at the remote imo....get a log up on ere m8 for peeps to try and pin point whats going on with the boot up....but from experiance it dont look to good at the mo tbh...sorry
