Default Picture quality of dbox2 using SCART

Hi there,

I recently bought a dbox2 nokia x2 (with a kinky lcd) to replace my dm500.
It came with neutrino which I dislike so I googled up dbox2+enigma and ended up with 3 images, pb-powerboard, SS and enigtrino2.
I first tried pb-powerboard but it sometimes makes the box freeze when I switch browse the channel list to fast (like holding the down arrow on my remote control in the bouquet channel list).
Also I find the picture quality worse compared to my dm500.
So I'm going to give enigtrino2 a try (it's based on SS, so I assume its more updated).
Will it give me better picture quality compared to pb-powerboard?
I'm using a decent gold-plated scart cable.

Thanks.

Doubt the dbox will be able to give a better picture than a dream mate. I've never seen much difference in picture quality between images. The best picture you're gonna get out of a dbox is by using a scart to component cable. Miles better than a normal scart picture quality.

Thanks, my TV has a component input so I'll order a SCART2Component cable from ebay and see how it works out. I'll post back the results.

Make sure your TV scart is in the TV scart socket on the dbox (not video socket). Makes a big difference on Enigma images.

Also, have a look at the video settings in AV setup, is it set to RGB?

Ah that already made pumped up the quality alot!
Output to RGB 16:9 PAL+PAL60
I wonder why CVBS is even there... RGB is much much sharper on my LCD Television.

I'm using Scart2Scart (very thick gold-plated) cable now, I wonder if the Scart2Component cable will make it even better.

Yes, using the correct socket and using rgb makes a big difference!

Not sure about Scart2Component cable, let us know though if you try it.

Regarding streaming, PaphosAL may help tomorrow, maybe something else he stripped out for Enigtrino?

But a new version may follow soon

I use a M*nster scart to scart - There are different grades of lead from them, the higher the grade the more expensive and I have a great picture on my TV.
DON'T buy from a high street store as you will pay up to 3 - 4 times more than online.

Default scar leads
Hi as a TV engineer there is no difference between the cheap and expensive scart leads other that the cost. The best leads to use are the one where not all the pins are connected nailnly because they are a lot lighter and will not fall out even with the locking pins they do not work well

Has anybody tried the component output from a nokia dbox2? Already have rgb scart setup but was wondering if a better picture quality could be gained via component. Anyone?
