Default RGB dbox shielded?

Hi all

New to the forum, had a dbox a good few years now however have ran into a problem. My box worked fine but I have just moved house and wall mounted my plasma, I used a new flat scart lead and plastered it in the wall. My dbox is now flickering continually, this flickering doesnt happen when I connect my telepest box and I wondered if anyone could give me any advice. The video setting for my image is rgb cvms or something similar, when I select this the flickering begins, if I pick the other video settings s-vid or the other ones (sorry dont have box here and cant mind the exact names) this doesnt happen, but obviously as its a rgb scart lead I buried in the wall when I use these other video outputs the picture is crap however it doesnt flicker. I had read somewhere that certain images dont have rgb cvms settings and just a setting for rgb on its own, can anyone shed any light on this or give me advice as to which image I should try? the image I use now is about 3 or 4 years old and it's an old sportster one. I have taken my dbox to my parents house and its working fine on there tv, so I know its not a box issue thats why I wondered if it was some sort of interference.

Thanks

Default dbox flickering
Hi its best to use a shealded ecart cable;if you want to use the flat type before you put it in the wall put silver foil around it that way it will be shealded a better way is to use a thin scart lead which is shealded and bury that into the wall cables should not be burie any way just in case some thing goes wrong as in this case

Also, is there a power socket in the wall directly below the line you chased out for the scart ribbon? If so, the scart could be running close to, and in parallel with, the pair of 2.5mm Twin+Earth ring mains cables down the wall to the socket, also chased in, and only covered with skinny plastic capping before being plastered over.

So it's possible that your scart lead is collecting EMF interference from the mains.

Cheers- AL

Hi Guys

Thanks for the replies.

I ran my scart lead, power lead and 2 hdmi cables up through the chimmney breast and out of a brush plate hidden behind the plasma.

On one side of the chimmney breast I put my plasma power cable onto a switched fused unit, on the other side of the chimmney breast I bought a wall wall plate that has scart and hdmi connectors.

The scart cable I plastered in is a flat allegedly shielded rgb scart from maplins (which I had checked it worked first) I have never used a flat scart before. I thought myself that maybe it was ran to close to my power cable, however when I connect my vermin box I get no flicker whatsoever, its only when the dbox is plugged in there seems to be a problem. However its not the dbox itself as it works fine on another tv. I guess that the dbox itself must not be up to the same build standerd as a vermin box.

The virgin engineer who connected my cable put (at my request) the cable entry point next to a double socket that I had intended to use to power the dbox & dvd player. At first I thought maybe that was where the problem is.

Anyway it looks like im faced with watching my subbed box on this tv or taking out the flat crappy maplins scart cable and replacing it.
I am also going to try getting a scart extender and see if I can connect a normal round rgb scart to the flat one and if I get no flicker I can then just push the joined cables back through the brush plate down into the chimmney breast. I may also try that silver foil idea it may just do the trick.

Thanks

When did they stop teaching paragraphs in English Language at school?

Paragraphs make a long spiel sooooooooo much easier to read...

Don't they?
