Exclamation Where Does Cable Dbox Go From Here ?

JUST TO CLARIFY BEFORE THIS THREAD IS HIGHJACKED AND TAKEN DOWN THE WRONG SUBJECT

THIS IS A CONVO ABOUT DBOXES NOT ANY TYPE OF NEW ENCRIPTION OR FIX FOR n3 .

As always stated ukcvs.org is only intrested in the development of the tuxbox cvs
so now we see on most other forums the cable scene is going down the shitter extreamly fast . what does this mean for the good old dbox ??
will they be doomed to the great landfill in the sky ?
does anyone else have a use for our trusty old friend ? (i mean dbox not Al BTW )

For me, my dboxes will carry on with FTA (just like it's always been on UkCvs.org)- but will gain a fair amount of Free Space, thanks to dispensing with 200k of then-useless files.

Massive increases in Free RAM (on account of the itsy-bitzy services and bouquets contents) will allow 7 Day EPG on ALL channels, with Long Descriptions 48 hours or more into the future on ALL channels.

Loadsa games, TuxCom, TuxWeather, etc etc. I won't be getting bored...

As long as the FTA channels keep working on my trusty dbox then I will continue to use it as its far,far better then any subbed box imo.

I don't use cable, but it will certainly be very interesting to see how this all pans out, there is certainly still life in the dbox yet, FTA and multimedia is still useful

Plus there's always the possibility of Ofcom forcing VM to drop the silly FTV arrangement, where channels that are FTA on DVB-T via the aerial, are 'free'- but still encrypted on the cable platform.

So we might get 80ish channels, rather than a dozen!!

Im thinking lets buy some broken sat boxes, swap the tuners, then start a private CS group ;-) (FYI has anyone tried those dodgy comercial CS servers ?)

Hmm yes what a good idea. A legitimite site setting up an illegal card sharing network....

Errr NO.

If anyone wants to discuss CS then please find another site to do it on. I will be deleting any further posts that I see about CS.

Not on here please.
