Default image flash backup - complete or w/o bootloader

was curious as to how you can get an exact image backup which can be reverted to should anything go tits up. When do you do a complete flash backup and when do you just do 'flash without bootloader' backup. or is it just a case of whichever one you get from your backup is the one you use to restore.

But mainly curious as to the difference between these two, cheers

Hi m8,

Always select without bootloader when flashing or making a backup. Someone will be along to explain the difference better then I could shortly.
The menu option is usually in the services menu and when you make the backup it will be saved to /tmp on the dbox, you will need a ftp program like flashfxp to connect to the dbox and transfer the image backup to your pc. Do not reboot the dbox until you transfer the file or it will be erased.

if you flash with bootloader then i think that you will need to put it in debug mode again.
