ok ive trawled the net for an answer to my problem and it seems i must be blind or looking in the wrong places
in commando 12 there is no option to set up the audio player to receive a network share ..
as i said before i have movie player setup and working great..
i can even see my music folders in filebrowser but when i open them the dbox doesnt see the mp3 files inside..is the commando 12 image capable of streaming mp3s?
its got me stumped now guys ..
i really need a shove in the right direction please

cheers

mick

On my dreambox running neutrino (it's ported from the dbox so should be the same.
menu
settings
mediaplayer
audioplayer
start directory

my mount is /var/mnt/cf/(films on my pc)
Om my computer I have films (shared) then a movies folder and a music folder in the shared directory)
so in the start directory line i
goto var
ok
the start directory line will say /var
then go in again and select mnt
so it says /var/mnt
etc etc.

Assuming it's the same on the dbox version

mount it to /hdd if you have it, it's not important.
you can make /var/mnt.
you can even make a folder called mp3 and mount to that the naming isn't important so long as the mount is setup in the settings, network, network mounts area.
Once you have everything setup it is automatic

do you have network mounts already or are you using vlc ?

still cant get it working
i could do with someone using commando 12 who is streaming music to tell me exactly what their settings are...
i just dont understand how the dbox can see all the folders in my shared F:/ drive...example F:/movies it can see all the movie files..
but it cant see the mp3s in the music folders

cheers

you don't use vlc to play mp3's you use the audioplayer once you have set the network mount up.
setting up the network is covered in pt-1's excellent faq and I have explained how to setup the audioplayer once you have the network mount setup.
I have found that have to have something as the network share username as I don't have passwords setup on my pc. I just put any letter in the username in the network shares setup on the box.
