Default Problems with SS Enigma

Just wondering if anybody has come up with this issue.

I'm having difficulty trying to setup this image. Emus aren't the issue its trying to tune the box while using this image.

Everytime i try to go into the sat configuration i get a fatal error as the image apparently can't find the required skin.

I've tried downloading new skins and reloaded the image onto the box, but to no avail.

Anyone got any ideas?

Nano

I think Al may have tweaked the default skin, and because this image was tested on a cable box, then the Sat skin fault may have been over looked, Al or SS will know better

Its a real pity as it looks a fantastic image which doesn't slow down the receiver

I've gone back to using Powerboard V8 at the moment which seems to be quite memory intesive as it lags quite a bit if you ask it to do too many things at once

Only really got experience from this and MD Neutrino on the dBox at the moment.

Not quite sure what to make of Neutrino at the moment, after being so used to Enigma on the Dreambox

@Nano- please confirm exactly which version of SS-Enigma it is you're on about. I should be able to sort the issue out for you once I know...

Cheers- AL

If it is a dbox2 version, then I'm afraid you will get problems as we never managed to get a tester to test the satellite side of things, only Cable, so a lot of satellite stuff was taken out.

As Renny says, it will be a default skin issue.

But if you are willing to do a bit of testing, then I'm sure AL can supply you with the missing satellite stuff to get it working for you?

Well, for all of the tweaked default.esml's we did through the various kernel changes, I was generally a good boy and always maintained backups of the various files, including their default CVS counterparts.

So if matey wants to attach his default.esml in question, which is in /share/tuxbox/enigma/skins - I should easily be able to match it to our original modded one, then bung in all the missing satellite sections for him to try.

It's no good asking him for the exact error message that shows, as this will only be the first of many, one after the other, as each missing section is added back. Might as well go for the jugular, and add the lot back- then it should work!

But we do need the right one to work with, please...

Cheers- AL

I can do that for you without a problem Its ver 4.0 that i'm running although i was going to try 4.1 to see if that fixed the issue.

I'll have to reload the image back onto the box which i should be able to do sometime tomorrow although i will try this evening if i can get SWMBO to go to bed early

I'm more than happy to be a guineapig if it resolves the issue as i'm getting quite attached to the old Philips dbox2 after having given it a full respray and new front.

It was quite rusty when i got it from a guy in Berlin

Thanks

Nano

If memory serves me right, 4.0 was the last version that SS did for dBox2 as a standalone Enigma image. His 4.1 was for DM500S boxes, NOT dbox2!!

We did later use the 4.1 monicker in dBox2, but this was in Enigtrino2 - a dual boot blend of Commando 10d and SS-Enigma 4.1 - an altogether different animal (and with all the Sat stuff gutted still).

Anyway, you've given me enough info to pinpoint the right files to work on, and the result is attached for you. Your existing /share/tuxbox/enigma/default.esml should be 42kb and 04.10.2008 when looked at in FTP.

The revised one is 58kb and has 13 new <object name = sections added for Satellite support. These are easily identified, as all the original scripting is fully left-justified, whereas the added sections are all tab indented. I carefully checked for rogue font descriptions and all appears clear in that respect.

But I don't think it will work 100% correctly on the first trial. I'm pretty sure it will need a bit of fine tuning with a few missing diseqc image files in the adjacent /pictures/enigma folder. If this is the case, make a careful note of what files it reports as missing in the popup Error boxes and let us know. I should be able to rip these from a DietmarW cvs enigma image I have from around the same period.

Good luck! Cheers- AL

OK just testing now, i'll let you know the outcome tomorrow

There also appears to be an issue with the root password, or lack of it i should say. Not an issue with the cable dBox so much but it can be a bit problematic with the sat dBox for obvious reasons

Please don't think i'm complaining i just really want to get this image to work. It would be easier to use another image but that doesn't accomplish anything, and it doesn't help anyone else out at a later time who may come across the same problem.

I really do appreciate all your help with this.
