flashed d box but it didnt work

Hi as u all know i am very new to all this. I have read as much of your info and help as possible but when I flashed my nokia dboxx2 it didn't work. Am I being completely thick and missing something obvious or just doing it wrong. thanks Tracie xx

How do you know it didn't work?

more info required so we can help you. Which image? how did u flash it? what went wrong? whats it doing now? was it working first? did you take a backup?

in most cases, reflash it using the correct image type using IFA Portable.

2-1 Favourite: FTP'd image.rar to /tmp and wonders why Flash Menu doesn't see it

10-1: FTP'd image.img to /tmp then powers box off to take it to another room to plug it near the Telly

100-1: FTP'd 1x image to nokia /tmp and now has Kein System on LCD

Form an orderly queue to place your bets please!!

hi thanks for getting back to me. I am in a nagra 3 area. I think it coulod be me being thick so am going to try again following the instructions on here very carefully then will get back to you guys. tracie xx

I don't think you should go for the 10-1 just yet because Al casually says to FTP something to the temp folder for then turning it off and plug it somewhere else... you'll lose /tmp content lol! I think Al meant to unplug it first and then FTP the image

!

Nope, I didn't mean that at all, Freddy! Although it's always a good idea to reboot the dBox2 before reflashing, of course.

Many noobs trying a flash for the first time are in a scenario where their PC is upstairs, and their dbox normally lives downstairs, under the only telly in the house...

So they take the dbox upstairs and connect it to the PC to transfer the image to /tmp

Then unplug it all, and cart it back downstairs to reconnect it to the mains and the tellly, to start this awesome reflash process. Except there's no image there to flash, LOL!

I did the self same boob when I first had a dbox back in 2004. Didn't like Boxcracker Head 3.5 it came from Germany with, and wanted to try the new fangled zg0re Balu Kit. Took a while for the pfennig to drop...

Bet bet for his situation is to use a long extension lead so as to maintain mains power to the dbox throughout it's travels, LOL!
