The Future Of The Trustee Old DBox2

hi guy just cant seam to bring myself to unplug my dbox2 for the last time so i was wondering is there any future in developing for the dbox2-c

as this has a cbl tunner in it there is no use for the tv side of this box anymore so is it possible to recreate new fw deleting all the features no longer needed like the full tv part and maybe a new gui to turn this old box into a complete multimedia center. by deleting all the tv fetures would this not create more free memory and maybe offer new life and new plugins for the dbox-c just a thought but would be great if it became a reality

the dbox has struggled on occasions due to memory restrictions but surely deleting all the features that we no longer need would be a big turning point for this great box.

i understand thet development must continue in the same direction for the sat development but as the cable side is dead then could this be a new direction

make my dream come tru and lets see the dbox stay plugged in for many more years to come

Well, since VM are now killing the old analogue TV signal on cable, and my trusty old dboxes still pull in 15 or so FTA channels in glorious digital quality, with 7 days EPG for each of them- then I would hardly say that the dBox2 no longer serves any useful purpose in the house.

Plus, in Standby Mode, I bet you it has a better LCD Clock / Calendar display than anthing else in your stack!! Which is the main reason my two boxes are now enjoying an easy (but useful) retirement!!

For the time being, you'll need to flash OpenPLi, then download the SQLite EPG Import stuff, followed by the Rytec XML EPG plugin.

Get back to us when you've reached that stage, and lincsat 'n me 'n Wiz will guide you on how to get the best out of it. But start a new thread for that topic in the DM section- as it'll be totally out of place in here.

3 Days quality Radio Times EPG for 150 of your favourite channels awaits you for a standalone dm500 box, which will need a route to the web to retrieve the data. Detailed description (synopsis) are 10x better than the crap VM equivalents- and run for the whole 3 day range too, not just for 12 or 24 hrs!!

Up here in VM glasgow, and looking for some advice.
First lost all the premium channels, but thought thats ok as I would be able to use it for FTA.
Now not even getting FTA on my dbox2.
So tried some older images from backup Commando 11.3 and Ultralite 3.01 but still no joy, well when I say no joy I did get some channels on commando 11.3 so I thought I would do a brute force scan and now no channels.
I have tried to go back but still no channels.

I guess my question is there a image that you know works on VM glasgow that I can use for FTA?

A use for the DBox2 LCD would be to wire it to the DM800HD to replace that totally pointless postage stamp sized screen that it has...

The only use for the Dbox2 in my mind is a TV box to stream movies to from my laptop.
And i dont even know how to do that
