e.p.g is loading or not loaded

hi,im jane and new to all this,i have just got a d-box and connected it up scanned it recieved transponders but it will only let me view 2 channels all the rest keep saying e.p.g not loaded or e.p.g loading,have been trying to do it for 3 days and its cracking me up,any help would be great thanks

73jane, cable d box will only give you free to air channels [ freeview ] nothing happening on the cable scene at the moment..... best try satellite ??

Ah, that's your problem then, if you're in UK, that is. What image is on the box?

You probably need to Set your location, the data for which is held in /var.tuxbox/config/scan.conf

The ones in red vary enormously, according to where you live in UK. They are Frequency, NetID, and Symbol Rate, and can be found in the Techy Menu on your VM rental box. If you don't have such a thing, then you'll most likely find the info you want in the attached file. The item in blue needs to match the provider found at the top of cables.xml in the same folder, ie:

This is our old 'Set My Location' menu (created by LraiZer) from the last image we built for dBox2 - Commando 12.2 - after which the big bang happened, and dev moved on to Satellite DM500S...

But you'll only get about a dozen FTA channels, because even the Free to View channels (as found on DVB-T) are encrypted on DVB-C - so it might not be worthwhile bothering.

I still keep my two Nokia dBox2 units going, one in the lounge and one in the bedroom. But they are in permanent Standby Mode, just to give us a nice LCD Clock and Date, LOL!

Well, you didn't say what image is on the box for starters, so that's not really helpful...

For most things you want to do with a dBox2 setup-wise, you'll need your PC and an FTP program. Google is your friend, as well as the Search button on here.

There again, you could be Renwich or Satsearching on holiday, and having now got the friendly helpful fish to take the bait, are now both PYSL while slowly reeling me in...
