How tos Movieplayer Setup

Ok, I've had a chance to review through my guide.
Essentially 0.9.8a works in the same way as 0.8.6i, in that the guide was pretty much OK.

I've corrected the spelling, and put the links in for the two versions of VLC I've worked with.
The thing to watch for if with 0.9.8a it no longer installs the activex plug-in by default so that could be why some people are having difficulties.

Also I've ditched the PDF and gone to RTF as for some reason the PDF's didn't open with reader 9, and I didn't have time to work that out.

Anyways, find it attached and enjoy.

Works perfectly, no errors, just that the playback is really really CRAPPY!!

but the guide shows how to connect and work and it does what it says!

now any help on getting the video playback to work? mines all crappy, not viewable at all..

Well playback is limited by at least three things (possibly more but I can't think of any right now):
1) It will never be better than your normal picture you get.
2) Depends on the quality of the file streaming, however a normal download tv ep at 400mb is generally played back OK.
3) The fact the network hardware is only 10Mb half duplex so is very limited in what it can transport as in real terms it give barely 1Mb of transfer so when playing bnack something with a lot of changes on screen (normally an action sceen) the picture and sound can breakup some.

hi mate, this is my setup :

dbox -ethernet--> router
router -ethernet--> pc

router --wireless--> laptop..

my files are located on the PC..

as for the picture quality, i mean, when i load it up it comes on ok, give it 5 seconds after its buffered, and everything i mean everything interlaps
almost as if the tv is being overdone.. dead choppy and also if someone walks, its leaves the walking pattern behind for a second or so.. not like a delay in the TV fps, as tho the previous frame has been saved and not removed whilst the next frame is coming in...

if that makes any sense??

Shouldn't be like that, at all unless there is a lot going on.
Have you got vlc firing up with the command line I specified?
Ater that, what setting for video rate in the movieplayer setup? default is 1000, what have you raised it too if anything?
