  • How do I enable my DBox to access the Internet or just connect it to my PC?
    .
Have a look here or here for some example pictures and the do the following:
    .
Find out from your router what IP range it is using as the Images that are being used have issues with DHCP.
    .
What you need is a free IP within the range of the router (take my picture as an example)
    .
    Then press the Dbox Key
    Choose 4 (Settings/Einstellungen)
    Choose Network/Netzwerk
Scroll down to the DHCP and turn it off (if it was activated)
Set a IP for the Dbox (from the Range of your router)
Set Gateway (IP off your Router)
Set DNS/Nameserver (IP off your Router)
scroll up to set network now (above DHCP)
    Press home
    Press Red Key
    .
  • I now have my Dbox attached to the Internet and I want to protect my Web Interface from being accessed via the Internet by using a password.
    .
The new webinterface from YJogol already has a feature setup where you can change this via the Webinterface.

Have a look into /var/tuxbox/config and there is a file called nhhtp.conf that needs modifying
    .
Set Authenticate=false into true (This setting is for the Password check)
AuthPassword=dbox2 can be changed to something of your choice
AuthUser=root can be changed to something of your choice
Port=80 can be changed to something of your choice
    .
  • Certain Hardware Settings for Sagem/Philips/Nokia
    .

    .
  • Network Settings how they should not be
    .
The 1st Network Card had the IP manually assigned 192.168.1.xxx and the 2nd one via DHCP trough the Broadband Modem/Roter as 192.168.1.xxx.
As both IP Ranges in that case are the same the Dbox and the Internet access together did not work.
    Make sure to use:
    Card one 192.168.2.xxx
Card two 192.168.1.xxx (Assigned automatically or manually)
    .

    .
  • What is FTP and where can I get a FTP Software?
    .
FTP is short for File Tranfer Protocoll and it is a software that enables you to send and receive files from and to your DBOX. FlashFXP or SmartFTP are a good choice.
    .
  • What Amplifier should I use and where can I get them ?
    .
You will need a amp that is designed to distribute Digital Signals. Argos sells them in 2 ways or 4 ways or a company called Grandata sells them also. They also offer a wide range of Plugs, Converters, Aerial Cable etc. for very competitive Prices. They also offer a Scart/Phono to RF Converter. This enables you to broadcast the TV Picture from you Dbox around the house. As an extra when you already use one of the SLX Amps you can now by a unit called Omni Link that receives via the Sky Eyes(one included) the Dbox Remote codes and broacasts them via a IR Sender to the Dbox.
    .
  • How can I change Background,Startup,LCD Logos (bootlogo) etc on my DBOX?(15.08.2005)
    .
Please read here for more detailed Information. The latest edition of the New Webinterface by YJogol also offers you this functionality without the aid of extra software.
    .
  • I have got a Sagem Dbox and the remote is acting a bit funny to Key presses. Can I change the Timing for it?
    .
Press the Dbox Key (TV Key on old remotes)
    Choose Settings
    Choose Misc Settings
The timer is at the end of the menu and is normally set to 25 for Nokia Boxes.
Sagems like a setting of 250
    .
  • How can I turn my DBox off so it is not just in Standby ?
    .
If you press the Power Button on the Remote short it normally just shows the Time on the LCD but is still on. If you press the power button long the Box will shut down and only the LED will show. Some users also tested to press the Mute button and it will turn the LCD and the Power LED off. This might not work on all Boxes.
    .
  • I have now scanned all Stations but I would love them sorted like some of the already excisting Bouquets.
    .
If you want a fancy nice look list - a possible way is to put another areas channel listing on yours, so u got the channels, bouqet etc etc.

Then go to scan and do 'update exsiting' - and it should put your correct freq in the current list (Spencer Mod at DF !).
    .
  • How can I add Photos or Screenshots to my Posts to explain what I am talking/writing about?
    .
Please use www.2and2.net to host your picture. You will need to Upload it and you then get a link. This link must be pasted into the extra window that openes when you click on the Picture Icon when you write a Post.
    .
Screenshots can be made with the PrtSc Key (PrintScreen) of the whole screen or via ALT+ PrtSc Key only of the actual displayed window. It is then saved in the Clipboard and can be pasted into Paint or any other software.
    .
  • A Tip for all Sagem Boxes that suffer from Stuttering or Freezing is REMOVE THE MODEM.
    .
Yes, you can maybe just unplug the cable for the Modem or even better unscrew the whole circuit board and remove it completely. This might also give the box a bit more airflow.
