i flashed openpli as soon as i got box and it crashed with green screen 3 times in first hour during testing with the plugins i was trying to install, so i have disgarded it as unstable. as you know, its all down to user taste and different images have a different feel even if they are almost identical when using them. i just didnt get a nice user feel from openpli, it seemed cold to use. dream elite has a much warmer feel to use which i am more comfortable with.

if you find you like the nice clean elgato skin you might want to try the 4ReacktX image as that has a moddified elgato skin as default but with extras added to skin. it tested as a good image but once again, i couldnt set it up the way i wanted so i found myself going back to elite image. a few of the images i tested were good and i would have chosed above the elite image, but they were not compatible with cooltv installed and that plugin is on the top list of my must have.

I know what you mean about OpenPli being cold,I will try both the dream elite and that other one you said and report back

Did you fix the mini usb port or not bothering?

I got mine on saturday only to find out I think the hdmi port is knackered. Got it connected up and the scart works but when i try hdmi, no signal appears on the TV. Tried 2 tvs, 2 hdmi cables and 2 power supplies.

Took the box apart and it looks like there is a pin at each side of the connector and one of these hasnt took to the solder and moves and this has caused the little pins that connect to the system board to come unattached

Trying to contact the supplier and hopefully get a swap, any one had to send a box back to china?

I didn't bother, I asked for a spare mainboard, but they didn't seem keen on that, but they did say if it goes faulty in the future, they would replace it.

I've never sent anything back to china as I hear its a right carry on, Satsearchingbhas had success in doing this though, also be careful sending a sat box back china as its illegal apparantly to export sat boxes into china, the box maybe confiscated, so make sure its marked something else.

Maybe in both cases, the factory hasn't got fully in order for RoHS!

The main issue here I guess is lead free solder, higher temperature is required, better track bonding for the higher heat and consideration for lower solder flow.

If soldered correctly, it is a better bond, but "wicking" or "wetting" is a problem with automated production.

Took the box apart and there is no solder holding it in at all and has came completely away from the system board. Sadly I can't get a workaround that would do the job. Will see what the suppliers come back with, but I want the board replaced.

At least I got my first view of 14.4 this evening and have a bit of reading to do with regards to getting the picons and epg setup(I changed the channel ordering).
