After my little hic-up, i`ve now had this image up and runniming for a full 24 hours, and what can i say that hasn`t already been said about this image... superb, and i like the RT epg, seems to work a little treat,so i dont think i`ll bother looking into the rytec etc version as RT epg looks to be the dogs bollocks, anyway, have a question on the bouquets in the image, would there be any adverse affect with the epg if i ran 1 large bouquet.....The person that the box belongs to like to run it the simple way ??..... once again... thanks for a terriffic image, and i for 1 apperciate all the hard work that has went into making this image....thanks guys....

the epg will still load exactly the same if you ran with just 1 large bouquet. the only thing that this would have a detrimental effect on is the autogen channel mapping function in the blue button RT wizard menu. when channel frequency changes occur and you need to do a new update scan, you would also have to manualy edit the /var/tuxbox/config/rtmap.xml to match these changed by copying and pasting the data after an update scan from the /var/tuxbox/config/zapit/bouquets.xml instead of being able to just pressing the autogen map button after an update scan.

its handy to keep the Rytec 2 day epg mapping up to date every so often though, just in case the RT epg is down for any length of time. Rytec is more of a backup system now that 14 day Radio Times epg (without the need for a network mount or HDD) has been added as the main epg system.

HOT TIP:
the best way to use the epg is to set the RT epg to load at startup via blue button RT wizard settings and then set a recurring daily timer to execute the reboot plugin early each morning before you get up.

Thanks for the info Lrazier m8, i think i`ll leave the bouquets as they are m8, and that should not give her any probs with the etg,

Yes m8, i have set the RT to load in both standby and in start up, and have set a daily timer for 7.30am in the morning with a zapit 10 mins later... cheers m8

MORE TIPS:

the power button on box has also been fixed in 14.4, so if you have enabled RT epg for standby mode, pressing the power button on the box will now load new epg while also putting box into standby mode.

im still unsure on this function, is it better to load epg when entering standby or leaveing standby?

epg menu in 14.4 also has a more ergonomic design with regard to thumb keypressing, so now just pressing the blue button 4 times with your thumb also loads RT epg

7.30 is not an early timer, its a mid day timer ive normaly been up for work about 3 hours by that time and done nearly 2 hours work by 7.30am

7.30am is NOT a good time to load 14 Day RT EPG! You will only get 13 Days data. Please read the RT EPG readme, FCS! Pick a random time AFTER 07:45 (when Auntie updates) to reload, PLEASE!

I have read the RT readme file AL, and the reason i am using a 7.30am refresh and 7.45am zapto to refresh the EFG, is that im usually waching TV on or about 8.00am in the weekend mornings, so i was wanting the EPG to do its work before i turn the box on to watch tv.... anyway.... a 13 day EPG still sounds good to me m8...Thanks....

Well, try setting it for a time WHEN you're watching, m8...

Watch what happens, sit back, and be amazed! While it's doing LraiZer's work, try flicking channels. That wouldn't work in OpenPLi gay enigma, LOL! (Which takes four/five times longer to load the same data, and a dead box in the meantime...)

Have to agree with that AL. pli with RT is totally crap, that`s one of the reasons i installed commando 14.4 on this DM500, as i new there had been a lot of time and work spend on getting it rite, and rite it is m8 [ as has been proved in the past ]...cheers !!

i tend to apply a different logic to PaphosAL, as i have a timer set to 4.30am just before i wake up. on the now rare occasion that RT has issues at their end with their 8am epg update, ive already got my 13 days epg and dont have to wait all day for them to fix it
