At last a proper Image for the DM500s
no longer the need to turn to the dark side to view your Satellite channels ![]() Neutrino is back Commando 12 for the Dreambox 500s compiled from the UKCVS svn which includes fixes to the following Scan Defaults to 28.2e, if you select another Sat it will save that as the last sat Compatible driver for clones and Genuine DM500's This image does not include any Cable support as cable is dead, but does fully support most of the normal Satellite requirements ![]() as usual NO CAMS, KEYS, ROMS , yWeb and Tuxbox Commander are included, as is AutoFS (CIFS mount tested) and Streaming. And some Games, for fun. Despite all that lot in r/o SquashFS root, the writeable JFFS2 /var parition is an eye-watering 4.125mb in size, giving an initial Free Space of around 3.8mb!! all us neutrino users need now is for LraiZer to finish off the EPG he's working on. (And, hopfully, tweak the binary so it recognizes 256c png Picons). With Thanks to LraiZer, PaphosAL, Satsearching, Scruff. and to the Tuxbox boys for the work they have put into porting Neutrino to this fun box, (shame they seem to not continue development, or answer questions anymore) THE PASSWORD is commando Multi-Sat and/or Continental users can easily replace our standard 28.2E satellites.xml in /var/etc with Satsearching's special one attached. This contains 30 satellites, spanning the Celestial Equator from 68.5E around to 43.0W !! ![]() Download Now

Gentlemen- I've just gone through an intensive sequence of tests, and I think I know what's happening here...
Firstly- this is NOT a bug in the new UkCvs Commando 12 DM500S image!! It's an issue with DreamUP, claiming it is erasing the flash, but in fact lying through it's teeth. It can happen when you try and flash ANY image that is formatted smaller than the image already sitting on your box, as is doubtless the case with C12-DM500S. DreamUP is simply overlaying the new image onto your existing one, leaving most (if not all) of the existing /var partition there! Result? Corrupt image; no telnet; no FTP... Solution: Either a) we use the full-size 7.75mb mtd3 Flash w/o Bootloader image in post #2 above for DreamUP to use, this being 8,126,464 bytes - the same for ALL types of DM500 images, whether enigma or neutrino) or b) use my little Image Flashing Assistant script attached, as follows: FTP into your box and check that /bin/eraseall exists. (If not, first see footnote) FTP the 3.63mb release image to /tmp 'as' backup.img FTP the flash.sh script to /tmp chmod 755 the script to make it executable (right click it in FTP) Telnet in and type this command: ./tmp/flash.sh This WILL erase the existing mtd3 fully, and C12 WILL be flashed properly!! You'll see user-friendly comments in the telnet console- the whole process only takes a couple of minutes. Sorry about this hassle, but Team-Commando didn't write DreamUP! @Renny: I think we're better off (and safer) to use the 7.75mb backup version for general release, don't you, m8?? Cheers- AL ![]() Footnote: "I don't see /bin/eraseall in my image. What now?" ![]() No probs, use the second attachment 'eraseall.rar' and ftp the files in there to /tmp in your box. chmod 755 flash.sh and then carry on as explained above. This tweaked script will make the new /tmp/eraseall an executeable for you, and will run it from /tmp (instead of /bin) I've only mentioned this, as there are some weird dm500 images out there that have removed the default cvs /bin/eraseall file. Can you not just rename the original image to backup image and use the telnet command to flash the new one?
cd /tmp && eraseall /dev/mtd/3 && cp backup.img /dev/mtd/3 && reboot providing of course you have eraseall in your /bin folder ![]() Sorry I cant test this theory but its more then my lifes worth to mess with the main box ![]() Wiz- if you look at my script, you'll see that you've just re-invented the wheel, LOL! AL ![]() Yes but with the telnet command there is no need for any separate script as far as I can see. me ![]()

Thanks for a great sat image to all involved with the development. As for flashing images to the 500 I prefer to ftp image to temp, rename to root.cramfs and use the box menu to flash, mainly cause it's so quick.
