Images Enigma v Neutrino

Hi all

Is there an easy comparison between Enigma and Neutrino images
explaning the pros and cons of each.

I understand what i have, DK, is an Enigme verient.

It's a matter of taste.
Enigma is graphical
Neutrino is all text based.
I prefer Neutrino but then a large majority of ex dbox2 users are like myself used to neutrino and don't want to change.

Both show a tv picture.
On the dm500 Enigma is a more mature interface than Neutrino.

I find the bouquets a lot easier to sort on Neutrino but once again it is a matter of choice.

Well, Scruff- you adapted Commando 10 to work on Dreambox, mebee it's time for you to pull the same stunt with Enigtrino? Let 'em have the best of both worlds, LOL!

Thanks Scruff, your comments, i think i'll consentrate my effotrts with understanding the Enigma graphical interface.

AL, presumably, Commando 10 and Enigtrino are images, what variant are they, Enigma or Neutrino.

How many diferent variants of Enigma are there, did they all start from one and branched out?

Batpad, Commando 10 is a Neutrino image, SS-Enigma is an Enigma image.

"Enigtrino" is a brand new method to combine a Neutrino and Enigma image together in one image, AL called it "Enigtrino" as it combines both types of image. Commando 10-d and SS-Enigma v4.1 have been used to do this as a dual image (dual boot), however, this is for a Dbox2 only at the moment (not a dreambox).

I have made an SS-Enigma image that works on a Dreambox (4.1), Scruff has made a Dreambox image based on Commando 10 diffs for a dbox2.

Dbox2 is sort of the forerunner to the Dreambox, an old design but still takes some serious beating in this day and age!

Think as Neutrino and Enigma are different OS's, just different "flavours" of Linux, both run on the same hardware but base source code are a different. All depends on the user, each have different advantages.

The base code comes from "Tuxbox" in Germany which is constantlly updated and improved (google it), image makers decide which flavor they want to use and edit it to add features that tuxbox won't support like emu management and other things, then compile it as it is opensouce......

Their is another flavor called "Lcars" but very little development for it.

Remember, you have a Dreambox 500, so only try Dreambox 500 images, maybe one day their maybe a "Enigtrino" dual type image for Dreambox, but the concept is so new it only came out last Sunday!

Example Enigma images are...
SS-Enigma
PB-Enigma
Digital Kaos image
etc

Some available on dbox, some on dreambox, some on both....

Big word of warning!! Do NOT risk trying an image called "Gemini", although a good Dreambox image, it can brick clone Dreamboxes (if yours like most is a clone), stay away from it, it can wreck your box bootloader!!

Then I would definately have to buy a DM500C to try it on! If Nj ever pulls his fingers out on the bulk ukcvs purchase...

also Magnu's Commando is a neutrino image but i doubt it any good on a dm

Does Enigtrino suports USALS motor function in Sagem dbox2 1xI?
