No Offence to SS, he has helped me alot up to this point and i couldnt thank him anymore but i wanted to know if it was possible to change from UKcvs image to Nabilosat as its OSDs are much sharper but still keep my VARIOUS settings and my channel list?? if its possible then how?

Ok ,if nabilosat is an enigma image which if I remember correctly it is, yes you can keep your channel settings just backup your bouquets etc using something like dreambox edit or bouquetter,then reload them using same program when you have changed image,
As regards sharing settings as far as I know you will have to set them up again.

il just stick to the ukcvs image until i get the gist of linux and ftp!!

Ahaaa, looks like you finally got it sorted?

Check the video settings are set to rgb or have a play about with it, it should be very clear.

If the osd bothers you, hit the blue button, look for addons and you can automatically download and install different skins.

Give yourself a couple of days till you get used to the enigma structure on your new 500 then play with other images.

As wiz says, use a bouquet proggy for your channel lists, the other things are easy to backup with ftp. You will soon get the hang of it.

Maybe, check the addons and extras files in /var/etc (EDIT not sure now as I looked again and saw I compiled the url folder into the image for box type (dbox2 or dreambox))

Nothing stopping you just downloading skins from elsewhere and putting them on manually, but sometimes skins support features not in the cvs so skins can be specific to an image.

If you find a good skin, let me know and I can add it to the server for direct download.

I just noticed we only have 1 extra skin here on the server for dm500 (quite a few for dbox2 though), do you fancy helping to find/mod/test more skins to add for dm500?

Warning! (and I'm sure AL will back me up here) if your going to play with skins then get used to reflashing your box when it goes wrong!

I concur! Which is why we've spent so much time on making a default 'fallback' Skin that actually does what you want it to do (unlike 'Stone' in the Enigma CVS, ahem!! )

The main thing to check for before you apply a non-tested Skin: Check it's .esml file first with Metapad or UltraEdit and have a good look at the fonts section near the top of the file.

If it's looking for a font name that is NOT resident in /share/fonts folder in your image, then you'll have a dead box on your hands after you've switched to, and started that Skin. Welcome to IFA...( or DreamUp as in your dm500 setup).

Of course, this fatal condition doesn't apply to SS-Enigma 4, nor it's derivatives found in Engtrino! :big smarmy grin
