Feature request for Commando???

firstly,

nice to see Commando being resurrected on the dm500

now onto the feature request... seeing as we're on the verge of having a very good EPG importer for DM500 neutrino (i.e. either Lraizer's radio times one or my Rytec one), what do you think it would take to write a sky+ series link equivalent???

i guess the first question is how stable is the recording on commando/DM500 over the network? if not, then forget my feature request all together

for the feature, i could see a unix script solution where:

1. a cron job runs after the epg importer.
2. it reads a source file with channels and programmes (e.g. Channel4,The Simpsons).
3. for each programme, it searches through the channel for that day to find when its on.
4. if it finds the programme is on that day, it sets a recording for it (probably via the web interface?)

I know recording conflicts would be tricky to handle but the devil's in the detail

for the simple unix scripting solution above, the only other complexity would be how someone could easily add a channel/programme to the source file. I guess adding something into the extra's menu so that they could type the channel and programme would be one way to do it... nasty though.

It would be far more user friendly if this could be integrated into neutrino but I've no idea how to do that... hopefully you guys do! otherwise its a hack of a unix script solution.

So what do you think? Is this a feature someone would find useful if it could be done?

On a side note, any idea why the concept of a series link has never been introduced for other dreamboxes like the dm800? I know there is an epg search feature and you can schedule multiple recordings from that but its very manual and someone needs to remember to do it every few days. Quite a pain if you want to schedule a lot of recordings!!!
