Default Faulty box or commando ...

Hello,
I have been trying to flash a dm500 clone with commando 14.4 which went well but every 10 mins or so the box goes to a black screen for 1 second and starts working again as normal. But it doesn't do this with pli jade or gemini and is totally stable. So i dont think its a faulty box and its being used on a local lan.

Is there a setting or something that i need to look at? or something that can cause incompatibility.

Thanks

Guys I seem to be having this "Black screen" for the odd 1 sec here and there on the latest release. This is on FTA channels as well as "paid" channels. Strange one to say the least.

sorry, i cannot replicate the issue here on my two test boxes.

Commando 14.3 contains driver loading code so that alternative dm500 drivers can by tested by users. there were no driver issues reported in any previous commando images, so Commando14.4 does not have this driver load code anymore.

to test if an alternative driver will fix this issue, you will first need to install Commando14.3 and then drop each of the attached head.ko driver files one at a time into /var/driver/. if you can test each driver and report back if a certain driver fixes this issue, then im sure a driver switch menu option would find its way into next release.

install Commando14.3
ftp head.ko to /var/driver/
reboot box

I have went to cm 14.3 and am currently testing the 1st head.ko. Just out of interest I notice that before I put the file in that folder that there wasn't actually a head.ko driver in there. Just thought I would mention this in case you wanted me to go back to an even earlier version of commando.

Also worth noting my DM500 is one of the "newer" clones which has a switch at the back to enable you to switch the power off/on. The others didn't have this so obviously this is a new addition. Again just thought it was worth a mention due to the fact that this revision may well be using new hardware.

/var/driver/ folder is just for loading alternative drivers
the current driver is in /lib/modules/2.6.9/extra/ folder

i have both the boxes you mention for development and testing, the older box and the newer box. i cannot make either of them black screen here.

Head.Ko number 2 seems to have cut down the frequency of these blackouts. I am now going to stick pli jade back on and will confirm once and for all weather this is a box problem or weather its restricted to commando (Gutted as I always put Commando on my Dm500....this is my 3rd and was going to complete my multiroom setup)
Need to confirm anyway and will update the post. Thanks for the help so far guys.

Hi there guys. After an hours testing I can confirm that this issue is not present in pli jade nor is it present in Gemini 4.7. I am gutted as I love the epg you guys have going on. None of the other images that I am aware of have anything like the same.
Thanks for helping anyway guys. I'll keep popping in from time to time to see if there are any more suggestions ect.

once epg is loaded try pressing blue button and turning Read EPG = off. just want to check there are no processing spikes coming from sectionsd that would cause this?

also maybe you couold try stopping the web server to see if this helps?
press blue button and start tuxbox commander
press menu button on remote
scroll down to taskmanager and press ok
scroll down to nhttpd and press red button to kill process

this will stop the epg popup messages, but you will still get the infobar epg disply message.
i cant think of anything else right now, apart from changing all the settings one by one in video settings menu to see what happens.

LraiZer- what got left out of the C14.4 code that no longer supports alternative head.ko drivers, m8. Was a diff missed, or some lines in rcS? I'm baffled...
