Attached are the basic Memory Map for DM500C (thanks to Callisto), and the revised Map for DM500S neutrino C14.3 onwards (thanks to LraiZer, Slutseatching, Renwich and me, I suppose, for the revised graphic, based on Callisto's original).
Heed Lraizer's advice carefully, please. I have not come across a DM500S image yet that doesn't extract the root partition correctly using his genius Squazma Tools. All you guys need to remember, is that fitting everything back into place afterwards MUST be inside the original partition boundaries. One byte over, and it's DreamUp time again... But it's all good fun, far better than actually watching the drivel they dish up on 800 channels, LOL!

Here is the standard DM500S password file, which goes in /var/etc to overwrite the existing one in there. The user is root and the password is dreambox
Cheers- AL

Hi, I'm new here and thank you for the ViewVar tool, it's great. I normally reset the password using the restore/backkup that comes in the PLI menu #6 SETUP. if you have the DM500 mounted (can be installed from the webif page if not already done in the DM500) just place the file PaphosAL posted in post #47 in your shared directory on your PC in the same /var/etc folder. Do a restore from that folder and it will overwrite the one which is causing the problem.
This has worked fine for me on boxes that allow me to get into setup, but some peeps put a password lock on setup as well so its not possible to run the restore function. Now with this tool, after you backup your firmware, look in var/tuxbox/config/enigma,you will find the config file. Look inside there and you will see lines like this Code:
i:/elitedvb/pins/enableparentallock=00000001 i:/elitedvb/pins/enablesetuplock=00000001 i:/elitedvb/pins/maxpinerrors=00000000 i:/elitedvb/pins/parentallock=000004d2 i:/elitedvb/pins/pinerrorblocktime=00000001 i:/elitedvb/pins/setuplock=000019d3 |

Yes a 5 digit code would be a PITA, but using your method is fixable. Then once you have the password reset to standard, you can ftp in and edit the setup lock. In a previous project I used mksquash and MTD5 to change some configurations for an installed addon which turns the DM500 into a dongle. It was my first venture into Linux and after practicing a bit I was able to go from Windows - Linux - Windows in about 15 minutes. I will have to read up on my notes.
Have you used the restore/backup method of resetting the password. It is a lot easier for peeps who do not have access to a Linux machine and this is the method I have used up to now. Luckily I have not personally come across a box that was setup locked. Cheers..... |
