Default ViewVar for dm500 backup images (windows tool)

ViewVar-dm500 (Windows Tool)

a handy windows tool for those who dont have a linux pc and want to extract files from the var partition of a backup image and copy them back onto their box.

view AND extract files/folders from a dm500 backup image var partition

INSTRUCTIONS:

1) connect dreamUP to dm500
2) power on dm500
3) press backup to download image
4) save image as "backup.img" into ViewVar folder
5) double-click ViewVar-dm500.bat

Nice one, LraiZer!! And in dm500s Commando 14.3, if you telnet in and login with User root and password ukcvs.org then type backup - there's your 7.75MB backup.img sitting in the /tmp folder ready to FTP to your PC.

maybe something on box was corrupt before making backup image or the image was corrupted during backup. maybe try again with a new backup?

as described above

1) connect dreamUP to dm500
2) power on dm500
3) press backup to download image
4) save image as "backup.img" into ViewVar folder
5) double-click ViewVar-dm500.bat


error message Germany

"Folgende Fehler ist beim lesen des JFFS2 aufgetreten
Fehlende inode.
Soll versucht werden weitere Dateisysteme zu lade?
""

it means:

"The following error occurred while reading the JFFS2.
Missing inode.
Should be trying to upload other file systems?"


I tried with other BOX it work very good.

PS: I tried new Backup the same Message
how can i do that extract the Backup file mybe with linux ubuntu??
i dont have the passwrd of the box and he get not online!!!!!

what is the name of this image?

try editing ViewVar-dm500.bat, changing skip=2304 to skip=1 in case the jffs2 magic bitmask is being erased by accident and the wrong jffs2 start position is being detected for read as that would produce that same error message you are getting.

if you want to PM me a link to your backup.img to look at in a hex editor to see if i can find the correct jffs2 magic bitmask start position im happy to take a look for you.
