just a quick question how can you tell the dif from a clone and dream

To be honest m8 there are several different versions of clones going around,but if it was bought in the last year then its a clone as Dream stopped making them at least a year ago.

Theres a few sites showing the differences on the case and main board. If you are worried about a clone then don't!

Personally, from experience of my clones and from what I read, I would be more worried about getting a genuine 500 with a weak tuner. I can't fault my clone sat 500 box at all!

hello all just got my dream 500c tonight having some probs not got my area code on it cant get 6952 its only got 6900 and 6875 on it tried scanning both

What image you got on? You should be able to set manually 6952!

Try flashing one of these great images on to your box,but bear in mind they are FTA images.
It will at least get you started and able to scan for channels,the rest can be done later for educational purposes only of course

hi all got a prob ,ftp ss-enigma to tmp folder then tried manual update to select in list but after i press ok the screen select the software to upgrade to ,cant get any further than that tried reboot

you will be better useing dreamup to flash the image

If you can still ftp into the box do the following,

To flash an image using Telnet

This method will only work with a .img image file.

Rename the image file to backup.img
FTP the image file to the /tmp folder on the dreambox
Telnet to your box and paste the following command:

cd /tmp && eraseall /dev/mtd/3 && cp backup.img /dev/mtd/3 && reboot

To telnet, click START > RUN and type Telnet ip.address.of.dreambox
A command window will appear, enter username root and password dreambox.

Box will automatically reboot when its done flashing.
