Default DSTT - what sdhc card works?

hello guys. got a DSTT chip. put the files on it to get it to load the roms and it all works fine..

but it only came with a poo 1gb, so i went to play.com and bought a 8gb class4 sdhc chip for it...

to begin.. my laptop wont read it!!!

so..

1) is the memory card a dud?
2) is my laptop crap?
3) will the chip even work with this memory card?

any help to the above questions will be gratefull..

my laptop currently reads the poo 1gb that came with the chip, i formatted it with my laptop and put the games onto it with my laptop. so i dont understand why this memory card wont work?

i think its the case that its sdhc. Our wii cannot see any sd that is sdhc, put in a norm sd card and all is fine.your laptop should read sdhc, try latest drivers for your lappy or try it in someone elses to see if i can be opened.if not its likely a duff card

i am not willing to attempt a "pot luck" with a micro sd card now for the ds-lite.

anyone know of a specific card they own that will work with it?

Can confirm that 4Gb microSDHC works just fine on my daughter's DSTT. Was planning on getting the 8Gb version, but she never plays more than the handful brain training games. Even the 4Gb is an overkill for her!

Anyway, hope that helps.

WRT the SDHC card earlier, SDHC is NOT backward compatible... i.e. it will NOT work on older card-readers which read SDHC. Unless your lappy specifically states that it will be able to read SDHC cards, chances are that it wont.

thanks , i think my laptop reads sdhc as it reads the current memory card that came with the DSTT chip. It just wouldn't read that 8gb so it must of been faulty.
I will order a 4gb mem card for it, where did you get your memory card from? so i can order the same one! mike

I have used Sandisk 8GB and Kingston 4GB cards with no problems at all.

You should make sure that with any xxSDHC card you use that you format it using the panasonic SD formatting tool as it will format it properly.

The formatting tool can be downloaded from here: http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/sd/download/sd_formatter.html

My current DSTT is knacked so can't test out my 8GB cards on it, gave my working one away.

I only have class 6 unbranded 8gb microSDHCs though, 5 of them. But they work in my htc phone, acekard 2 and my 2x microsd to 1x pro-duo convertor fine enough, lol. ^_^

The two recommended brands are Sandisk and Kingston, both do 4GB + 8GB micro SDHC cards that have been tried and tested with DS cartridges. You should also be aware that these cards are rated according to their 'minimum sustained data transfer rate' and given a 'High-Speed Class Rating' of 2, 4 or 6! The DS cartridges require 'Class 4' or above as 'Class 2' cards are not fast enough.

I use mymemory.co.uk now as the first one I bought from Hong Kong turned out to be a an unbranded card in fake Kingston packaging!

Hope this helps.
