Default Team orders, Yes or No

Formula 1 midget Bernie Ecclestone believes the rule banning team orders should be scrapped, saying: "As far as I'm concerned a team is a team and they should run it whichever way they want to run it.'"

After what happened at Ferrari (again) at the weekend, what do you guys think?

To me it is result fixing so no longer a real sport, but is F1 so corrupt anyway that it isn't really a sport?.

I agree with the idea of team orders, but with certain pre-requisites

the driver being allowed to swap places should be able to statistically win the championship

the driver dis-advantaged should not be statistically able to win the drivers championship

team orders must not be used early in the season

Formula one is a team sport and the team needs to be able to take steps to win both championships

That is actually a brilliant idea, Renny! Simple, black and white, no grey areas to exploit, and eminently workable.

email Bernie and suggest it!!!

If team orders let brats like Teflonso and Prattle to the podium, them I'm totally against it.

Difficult subject though, but if a good driver gets to the front, then credit to them for getting there AND blocking others overtaking him!

Massa really deserved that win.

The FIA, world motorsport's governing body, upheld Ferrari's $100,000 (£65,100) fine, but will review the rule banning team orders.

I know it's difficult and most people want to see the team orders rule thrown away, but it pisses me right off as it's fixing a result.

Strange though how fixing in other sports is in the media at the moment, look at the Indian Cricket team in the news this week, and Snooker Player John Higgins with his 6 month ban!

Is sport really just buisness now?

I still stand by what I said earlier in the thread,

but I do think this was blatant cheating and they should have at least got a suspended threat of all team points being revoked, rules are rules and although I disagree with the current team orders rule, I think rules should be adhered to.

F.I.A = Ferrari International Assistance.

cheating fookers

Did you really expect anything different from the F.I.A.?

F1 is a team sport and certain drivers have had outright No1 status, just look at MS through the years, Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost etc. Team orders are going to happen, so no point in banning them. But, while they are banned, teams should obey the rules which Ferrari clearly didn't here.

It's up to the drivers to negotiate in their contracts. I'll bet Massa has a clause in his contract stating he must support the team and obey any decision on placements/Team orders - if it wasn't in his contract, he wouldn't have obeyed now would he
