Default Dish Size ?

How do i find out sat dish size, i live in the northwest, my house faces east ish,
I am getting a TM600 later this week
,
I have a sky dish up now and will just be on freesat for a while but want to try and get a motorized dish in a month or two.

As the dish will be on the front of the house i want to keep it as small as i can but dont want to loose out on any channels i might be able to get.

Thanks for any info
Derek

Rule of thumb, go for the biggest you can manage.

at least 80, 90 or 100cm dish.

Worth spending some time on lyngsat

For example, click on Thor 3/5/6 & Intelsat 10-02 at 0.8°W - LyngSat

There is a list of the channels on 1'w, note the column on the right called "Beam" As can be seen, the satellites at that location have various different beams or "Foot prints" (K1, K2, Spot 2, Spot1, T1, T2 etc).

If you click on the beam links, it gives you a rough idea on the dish size for your area.

So look up the satellites and channels you are mostly interested in, check the beam/foot print for your area and work out what dish size you want.

But as I say, min is really 80 to 90cm, I use a 100cm. But if it is just certain Euro channels you want, you could work out a smaller size using lyngsat.

If you are concious of the dish standing out, you could spray paint it with a colour to match the background!

Normally a non-metalic matt car paint aerosol will do, just don't spray the lnb face.

Weren't you cold dressed up as that snowman, Nj? Out of interest, why did you opt for a mount point for the dish some distance away from your intended cable entry point, m8?
