Default Duna TV (FTA)

Help please, you sat gurus!

An old Hungarian friend of ours (yes, much older than me), has lost her beloved Duna TV digital channel on her freesat box.

I googled and found they'd shifted their service on April 1st to Thor 5 @ 1ºW - whereas it was on Hotbird @ 13ºE

The Duna TV website (English selectable) gives all the new details, and just says you need to retune your box. They're 'aving a larf, aren't they? Surely this needs a 14º westward realignment of the dish, doesn't it?

At the moment, her box is grabbing Astra and Hotbird, which I guess are a few inches away from each other in orbit. Cosy...

Cheers- AL

Thanks for that vital info, Humforce. She straight away decided she can live without this channel, and watch Euronews instead, LOL! Which is what I left her box tuned to, so she can at least see what the weather is doing in Hungary...

But hang on a minute, this seems a cock-eyed move for a state-owned TV broadcaster (equivalent of our BBC) 800 miles EAST of us to make? Move their sat service from Hotbird @ 13ºE (right above them in Hungary) to 1ºW ??

Doesn't this mean that all their own countrymen will now need 1.2M+ dishes to grab it in the source country?

Cheers- AL
