anybody know when the old man will be put out to pasture?

Well, it was launched in 1998, with a life expectancy of 12 years, it was planned to be replaced by Thor 6 that was launched in October 2009.

It is supposed to be getting retired this year, but Telenor was looking to lease Thor 3 to another operator, and letting it go inclined to save fuel, so it may continue for Outside Broadcasters for some time.
