What's Spirit?
Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)
Requirements
Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.
An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.
Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).
Syncing with iTunes before trying this highly recommended.
Note: On iPad, all this is still sort of beta. Some packages in Cydia, not designed for iPad, might screw up your system and require you to restore. Be careful. (And no, Cydia's appearance is not final.)

Just thought I'd say, spirit works perfectly. Finally I can switch my iphone off when I want to. That was the only downside of black rain.
Anybody who uses spirit, Just remember to save your SHSH blobs so you can restore back to firmware 3.1.3 once apple stops signing it so you don't lose your jailbreak.

I finally had a go at this today and it worked a treat! Backed up my SHSH blobs first too (also jailbroke my eldest boys ipod touch while I was at it).

I was surprised how easy it was, cool link, thanks for the info.

Anyone know of a good repo that has a well known satnav app on it? Installous doesn't have a valid copy at the mo.

I've looked all over to find a decent sat nav on the phone. Can't find 1 anywhere. If I find one I'll let you know. I Think your best bet is to download it on computer then transfer it across and install it with installous or appcake. I used to have tomtom before i re jailbroke and lost it wasn't much cop though, compared to a proper stand alone. Not tried Ndrive or CoPilot yet though.

So is tomtom useless on an iphone without the external gps? Tomtom was great on my old ipaq pda but needed an external gps box.

I used copilot on an xda, but in certain places it just sent me the wrong way, what the display showed and what the voice prompts said was 2 different things sometimes drove me mad.


Anyone else recommend a satnav app for iphone?

i used the tomtom software on my iphone until i sold it, and i must say its not that bad actually!

for me it worked just as it should, sometimes it took a while to catch a gps signal, other than that, it worked flawlessly!

i have read on some sites people had bad experiences etc..

just aslong as you keep it plugged into the 12V socket with in car charger & have a cradle for your window that wont fall out (i paid £4.50 delivered on ebay for one, perfect) your on your way!

dont knock it til you try it!

ps. i also had to download mine seperate, i browsed torrent sites to find a valid copy, put it on via itunes, quite a big file to download via installous tbh

i found the tomtom version on installous v1.2 very good, fast gps catchment , all i need now is how to put the cameras on it ...any ideas

how easy is it to un jailbreak a device

Very easy mate. Just plug it in to iTunes and press restore. Just make sure you back up your phone 1st.
