I had half a dozen 256MB DDR dimms kicking around, but these were all desktop spec, 184 pin. I think your laptop ones are shorter than that, aren't they?

Thought so, Mags... If it's any help to you- when I was browsing around fleaBay looking for a pair of 1GB 184pin dimms for my XP Pro machine, I was very surprised at how expensive these were, compared to the 144pin equivalents. For example:

1GB 2X 512MB SDRAM PC133 144Pin 133MHz LAPTOP SODIMM on eBay (end time 26-Feb-11 17:55:51 GMT)

And 2 x 256MB cost nearly as much, so it's a non-brainer to go for the 1GB spec.

Cheers- AL
