Default Traffic Management Trial!!

Traffic management trial

STM Trial Over the coming months, we'll be conducting a trial on the way we manage our network in certain parts of the country. During these months, we'll be making a few changes to our Traffic Management policy, to help us figure out how to improve the quality of service we provide to our customers.

Our Traffic Management policy makes sure our service is fair for everybody, by occasionally moderating speeds for the top 5% of customers who are downloading and/or uploading an unusually large amount of data.

The aim of this trial is to enhance the way we do this, limit the number of people who have their speeds moderated and ultimately improve the service we deliver to all our customers.

What areas are affected?

Preston
Wigan
Blackpool
Aldershot
Acton
Other areas TBA

So, what's changing?

Our current trial policy is shown below, however, since it's a trial, it can change at any time. All that means is that it's a good idea to check this page regularly if you live in an affected area and want the latest version.

Must remember to start downloads off first thing in the morning (before leaving for work) - should be ok then.

The 75% throttling for the L or XL lines seems crazy.

I have just been on to virgin as my speeds have gone from 10m to 2.5m download and 120kb upload ,I told them its out of order that I am paying for a service and not getting it, thier answer was tough!! you have downloaded 1.5gb between 10am and 4pm so your speed has been cut till 11pm tonight !! the thing is Ihavnt downloaded anything just played online games and used my voip phone. if there network cant handle the trafic they shouldnt keep upping the speeds everyone should be able to use all 10mb,20,50mb of thier line speed without loss of speed its a problem with virgin not investing in more modems and servers not the users fault for using the service they pay for.
