10mb here but cant stand the traffic shaping!

I got a good long term deal on 4mb which was upped to 10mb for free last Summer. But I only ever see 5mb on tests. But the upload increase to 512k has done wonders for my VOIP phone QOS, so I can't complain.

I've only pay for 10mb from virmin. I used to only get about 6mb. Now I generally get 11mb+ whilst only paying for 10mb.

A mate told me to download tcp optimizer from the virmin web site (Supposed to be for 20mb users). All I did was run the program and move the slider to 20mb. For some reason it seems to work the download speed nearly doubled, upload stayed about the same. Traffic management is still a bitch though

I'll post the program, Admin please remove it if its not allowed.

Thanks, Phil- I'll give that a go. Why shouldn't it be allowed? It's hardly a modem hack, if the software is sourced from the Virgin Media site, LOL!!

I might have a crack at that too. I've only got 2Mb at the moment, I'm being a tight git and hanging on until they upgrade me for free. It could be that I might get it up to a faster speed as per the earlier poster, which would be very nice! I might have to make a phonecall saying I can't afford it any more or something and see what they offer me...

Well I've tried it, rebooting everything afterwards (PC, Router and CM)- and my speed has jumped from 5mb to 8.5mb- which is a 70% increase. I'm more than happy with that!

2mb - but it's usually around 240Kbs or something on a decent site which is fine for me.
