Default Possible to run 2 modems on same system?

Evening all,

A mate of mine has just given me his "old" (ie about a month old) virgin modem (one of the new ones), as he's left and gone to Sky.

I already have my own modem, router etc running fine off a splitter up stairs (does TV in bedroom and bband in office).

I have been running one of those Linksys Ethernet-over-power units to get bband downstairs in the lounge.

I'd like to put the 2nd modem on a splitter from the feed in the lounge, then use that and another router there to replace the "EoP" system...

However, when I try the 2nd caMo downstairs, the sync light never stops flashing, which I guess means it cant sync with the cable network?

Is there a way to get this to work?

(FYI - I also tried my older webStar modem which I got with my original Virgin contract, in the lounge - same thing. Also, my mate never had it setup, so I dont think it'll have registered itself to his account...).

Any help much apreciated!

BTW (off topic) he's also given me his "old" v+ box - dont suppose it's possible to do "the things one would be able to do with a Dbox2" with one of these is it?

His old modem has likely been switched off. Cable modem hacking is possible but not for discussion here

Same goes for the V+ box. If your m8 had it on the stream when he cancelled, the card would have been zapped, leaving him with a pretty silver door stop. Legally- he should have let VM collect both items- as they are their property...

But if the box was not connected when cancellation was done, and hasn't been since- then the card is the way in- and the only way, so I understand.
